Posted December 31, 200816 yr Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has been honoured by The Queen in the New Year Honours List today (December 31). Plant becomes a CBE for services to music as part of the 966-strong list of honours. It comes at the end of a year that has seen him at the centre of continued speculation about a potential return for the legendary rock group. Despite playing a one-off show last December at the 02 Arena, Plant has been reluctant to go back for a full tour. He also enjoyed a Mercury nomination for 'Raising Sand', his collaboration with country singer Alison Krauss. Saxophone player Courtney Pine also becomes a CBE. He said he was "deeply moved and honoured," calling his work "a noble mission in uniting people through sound." according to the {b]BBC{/b}. Elsewhere, fantasy author Terry Pratchett becomes a CBE while racing driver Lewis Hamilton is made an MBE.
