Can anybody suggest any websites that provide information on single releases from previous years please.

 

Somebody pointed me towards http://www.dvdfever.co.uk a while back but that's pretty patchy in places - it certainly doesn't provide anything like an exhaustive list of releases, even from 1998 when it starts.

 

I'm most interested in information from 1994 onwards.

Thanks for the reply. It's more that I want to check by date and see which singles came out rather than wanting to check by release to look to see when it came out though.

There's more than just release schedules there but it would take an age to separate those out. The aothor is zobbel, who still has a website at www.zobbel.de though his old postings he made from all those years ago (which were made to usenet not the internet) are not archived there.

 

I've seen release schedules from before that too, but can't locate them (these posts are all usenet - newsgroups - not internet posts which have been archived by Google). Back then there weren't any proper websites other than Dotmusic and then HMV that listed the new releases by date and boards like this just didn't really exist back then so I doubt you'd get much more.

For more recent years (up till the introduction of downloads anyway!) you can't go far wrong by checking each week's chart for new entries. The chances are that the release date will be the Monday before the single charted! Not a foolproof system but still.....
