January 3, 200916 yr Thanks for those figures! Would anyone happen to know of the 105,865 copies sold outside the Uk - how many were sold in Ireland? I'd say that if we assumed about half of that sum was sold in Ireland that means that of the remainder (on average) The Circus sold about 7,500 copies in each of the other countries. That does NOT bode well for any future European tour plans. Yes I know I'm a pessimist and nothing would have pleased me more than them to have just a smidgin of success ... but I'd say that in Europe - The Circus has well and truly done ... not very well. I really did think The Circus would do better in Germany than Beautiful World. Ah well ... there's always the domestic championships! Norma Edited January 3, 200916 yr by Norma_Snockers
January 3, 200916 yr Id love to know how many were sold in ireland but for some starnge reaosn its impossible to find out any sales information regarding the irish charts and i dont know why
January 3, 200916 yr Id love to know how many were sold in ireland but for some starnge reaosn its impossible to find out any sales information regarding the irish charts and i dont know why They are incredibly disappointing sales though outside of the UK aren't they? I just don't think they connect with audiences outside the UK and Ireland. I suppose its a bit like Status Quo though ... they were basically a UK phenomenon .... so its no bad comparison I suppose. It pains me to say this, but as crap as Westlife are ... I think they sell better in Europe than Take That do! I think faced with that fact ... I'd throw the towel in! Norma By the way ... hope you don't mind me closing the two Christmas songs B&I threads! Edited January 3, 200916 yr by Norma_Snockers
January 3, 200916 yr No i dont mind at all norma as for me x mas is now over anyhway Westlife promoted like hell around europe where take that have basically done sweet fa so i dount they are to bothered, and in reality take that probably sell more album in the uk alone than westlife do around europe if take that done a quarter of the promotion they do in the uk around europe they would sell alot more but i dont think thats the diercetion they want to go as none of them rightly want huge work loads

I honestly don't think they've done as much promo in the UK for The Circus as they did for Beautiful World which is why I'm even more surprised at its domestic success. I'm more disappointed for the European fans that they do have though as unless the visit the UK or Ireland for the concerts they're probably never going to see them in concert. Having said that ... a visit to Dublin is always tempting!!! Norma
January 3, 200916 yr If take that wanted success all over europe they would get out there and get it but they dont want that,,the money is rolling in for them without the band taking over their lives,,i agree they have their prioritoes right as they all have kids now apart from jason and its totally understandable they want home time im just getting flashback from garyls book,is mark;s solo manager now the manager of take that?
January 3, 200916 yr im just getting flashback from garyls book,is mark;s solo manager now the manager of take that? Yep ... Jonathon Wild. Norma
January 3, 200916 yr he seems to be doing a great job but im sure Nigel must be raging at all he ha slost out on with them been so so big now
January 3, 200916 yr he seems to be doing a great job but im sure Nigel must be raging at all he ha slost out on with them been so so big now Do you know what though? I know there is no way NMS could have been manager as they are now (from Gary's book ... he was absolutely hateful towards Jason ... probably because he fancied him and it was never reciprocated). However, I do feel a tiny bit of sympathy for him. He served them well in the early years. A lot of his guidance has made them come through this time ... lessons they learned (i.e. being pleasant to people on the way up because you never know when you'll need them on the way down). And he was a damned sight better manager than piece of dirt who supposedly 'managed' E17 ... and then left them to hang out and dry! Norma
January 3, 200916 yr i see where your coming from but on the flipside i think the reason take that phase 1 went the way it did was down to him i think he really put the divide up between them and as much i aint really a robbie fan i dont think he treated him fair either and likewise i didnt like what he did to jason and it was great that jason made a stance and said no way could be manage them this time, nigel seemed to have th efear of god in everyone of them at many stages and hecame accross as a bully at times and im not just foing by garyls book but other interviews etc also on the other side he did put everything into making take that a success but i think mor ethan anyone nigel forgot who he was and treated people badly and thats what is totally gone against him now
January 4, 200916 yr But I still can't help, if not liking Nigel, finding him incredibly interesting. I tell you what ... if he writes a book about Take That .... it is the one book I'd want to read more than anyone who supposedly knows them. Norma
January 4, 200916 yr ya that would be a great read im sure but he would prob be held liable so he would have to tread very carefully
January 4, 200916 yr Did they not bother releasing the album in Spain or Italy? Or did it just not chart. I know they did a little promotion in Italy (not sure about Spain). Norma
January 4, 200916 yr im not sure been honest i dont know where the album was actually released, outside of ireland and the uk do you know where did beautiful world get its highest peak
January 4, 200916 yr The following are the relevant bits from a post by Jur for Take That's global results - the full thing is in this forum but I've just highlighted the relevant bits - I've only included stuff from Take That this time (apart from The Circus which is already posted within this thread). January 4, 200916 yr beautiful world did well in switzerland germany and austria by going top 10 and thank you for posting all the positions
January 4, 200916 yr beautiful world did well in switzerland germany and austria by going top 10 and thank you for posting all the positions No probs! It was thanks to an original posting by Jur anyway ... so thanks Jur. As you can see though ... absolutely awful for The Circus in comparison. I doubt they'll even release their third Polydor album outside of UK, Ireland and possibly Germany. Norma
January 4, 200916 yr its aeroy days yet and maybe greatest day didnt help around europe although i think up all night could help improve the circus european positions but for me been honest im not really bothered about its performance outside the uk and ireland and in general im more focused on how its doing in the uk as in reality that is the market the album is aimed at

I know it sounds selfish but I do. Moot point anyway I suppose as it seems they do seem to be a purely British / Irish phenomenon. Norma
