I know this comes across as lazy and/or self-important, but this place isn't exactly buzzing so maybe the Janet fans wouldn't mind helping me. :magic:

 

Currently Janet is 18th on my Last.FM chart but I only like about five of her songs. To illustrate, my top 6 songs by her are on 52/46/41/41/32/8 plays. I figured she can't be THAT hit and miss and maybe there is a song or album by her that I'll really like that I haven't heard.

 

My top five are 'Together Again', 'Feedback', 'Black Cat', 'All For You' and 'The Best Things In Life Are Free' - in that order. There isn't really a theme by the looks of things. But yeah, point me in a direction please? Song or album.

 

I've heard all of 'Discipline' (how disappointing) and most of Design Of A Decade. (but only 'What Have You Done For Me Lately' and 'Love Will Never Do (Without You)' stood out) Oh and I don't listen to many songs that are over 5 minutes, which is probably why Design Of A Decade seemed a chore to listen to.

I've heard 'Rhythm Nation' but the version I had was 6 minutes long, I've just seen that the international version of 'Design Of A Decade' has shorter edits so maybe I'll like it better if I can find it. It's strange but once a song spills over the 5 minute mark it puts me off listening to it unless it's something really special.

 

I'll give those songs a proper listen tomorrow but I just heard the clips of what was available on iTunes and you've reintroduced me 'Doesn't Really Matter'. I LOVE that song but I either forgot it's general existence or I didn't know who it was by/what it was called.

 

I'll probably check out 'janet.' too but the tracklisting is looking like a load of interludes and long songs. This seems to be a theme for her.

It seems like 'Again' is a popular choice, it's obviously a ballad from the iTunes clip and I don't know what I thikn of her ballads, it's kind of what put me off her latest album.

 

As for your other suggestions, three of them are three of the five Janet songs I'm really into so well done if you didn't read it. I've heard 'That's The Way Love Goes' a few times but it didn't really grow, it's a decent song though.

Thanks for the album suggestions. I'm starting to think I should stick to singles, Janet doesn't seem to be the sort of artist to do a 3 and a half minute track and be happy with it.

 

I quite like 'Nasty', I think I should give it more of a chance really.

I agree. I've only ever heard one Janet album and that's Disipline. I love it. I keep saying i'm going to go back and get some of her other work but i've never got around to it :unsure:
