Paul Van Dyk has an impressive resume on the dfc. He has topped the countdown with "Crush" (2 weeks), "The Other Side" (1 week), "Let Go" (1 week)... He is also to be remembered for his dfc top 3 hits such as "Another Way" (1999), "Nothing But You" (2003) and "White Lies" (2007). The German DJ`s new-entry in the countdown has an interesting story behind since it was one of his first releases back in 1994 on his very first album but prooved to be more successful on its second release in 1998 and charted on the dfc top 20. Now he gives resurrection to his song for the third time and enters at number 9.

Guru Josh Project's "Infinity 2008" goes out of the chart after 34 weeks in it.They have spent 18 of them at No.1 and collected the record breaking amount of 367 points! All of those scores are of course all time best in MTV's Dancefloor Chart.

A little history about Freemasons...one of the members was from Phats & Small and they had two number 1`s on the dfc; "Turn Around" in 1999 and "Tonite" in 2000. As Freemasons, their best efforts occured in 2005 with "Love On My Mind" peaking at number 3. Now they enter the chart together with Sophie Ellis Bexter at number 5 with "Heartbreak". Speaking of Sophie Ellis Bexter - her best effort on the dfc was in 2000 together with DJ Spiller in "Groovejet" peaking at number 2 for several weeks. On her own she managed to reach number 5 with "Murder On The Dancefloor" in 2002.

Now on to a Dutch house DJ and producer with alias Fedde Le Grand known for having 3 successful hits on the dfc top 10; "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit" (1 week in 2006), "The Creeps" (1 week in 2007) and "Let Me Think About It" (2 weeks in 2007). After Danish singers Camille Jones and Ida Corr, the frequent switch in partners seemed to be giving him number 1`s so he continues this strategy by enlisting Mitch Crown to sing for him on "Scared Of Me" which now enters the chart at number 10.

MTV Dancefloor Chart №24/14.06.2009

1. ( * ) David Guetta & Kelly Rowland - When Love Takes Over

2. ( 1 ) Bob Sinclar & The Sugarhill Gang - Lala Song

8. ( * ) Royksopp Feat. Robyn - The Girl And The Robot

9. ( 7 ) Agnes - Release Me

10. ( 8 ) Freemasons & Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer

2009-06-14

Norwegian duo, Röyksopp`s first appearance on the dfc was back in 2002 on the chart of July 27th where they were bubblers with their third single from the album "Melody AM"; "Remind Me". In 2003 they entered the chart for the first time with their first single "Eple" and peaked at number 9. They scored their first number 1 in 2005 with "Only This Moment" of their second album "The Understanding" and spent 2 weeks at the top. The same year they continued this success with "What Else Is There?" when it topped the countdown for a week. They`ve now enlisted help from Swedish Robyn who`s no stranger to the dfc either although after over a decade in the music business got attention on the dfc only two years ago when "Handle Me" peaked at number 7. Her best efforts occured towards the end of last year when she help Christian Falk peak at number 3 with "Dream On". Now Röyksopp and Robyn find themselves on the chart together in "The Girl And The Robot" and start of at number 8.

David Guetta breaks into the chart straight in at number 1 but not with his favourite vocalist Chris Willis but instead replaces him with Kelly Rowland from Destiny`s Child. David has had several hits on the dfc the biggest one being "Love Is Gone" from 2007 topping the chart for 9 weeks and one might think that Kelly is a debutant to this chart but she really isn`t. It was at the beginning of last year when she paid the top 10 a visit with "Work" remixed by Freemasons and peaked at number 7. Their latest efforts is already a dance hit and is expected to top this chart for some time to come.

9. ( 10 ) Freemasons & Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer

10. ( * ) Cascada - Evacuate The Dancefloor

2009-06-21

American R&B singer Lumidee known for her number-2-peaking dance hit with Goleo in 2006 "Dance!" had Pitbull sing together with her in "Crazy" which peaked at number 7 in 2007. Now on his own feet, Pitbull crashes into the countdown straight in at number 5 with "I Know You Want Me". Notice also how a small portion throught the song is sensibly stolen from a club hit in the 90s; The Bucketheads with "The Bomb" from 1995.

The German group Cascada including their singer Natalie Horler have been continuously hurling hits over a period of a few years. Their best efforts have so far been "Everytime We Touch" but only up until now do they find their way to the dfc with "Evacuate The Dancefloor". They slide in at number 10.

Cidinho & Doca drop out of the top 10 this week and they managed to spend the longest time in the countdown for a song peaking at number 5 with "Rap Das Armas"; 16 weeks. This record has been broken on several occasions this year even when we consider Agnes peaking at number 7 with "Release Me" and spending 7 weeks in the top 10. We must also remind ourselves of Martin Solveig who did the same thing by peaking at number 4 with "One 2.3 Four" and survived for 14 weeks. Tiga has the same record even though the song peaked at number 10 for 3 weeks. I doesn´t seem to matter whether this happens to be a rather minor hit because the analogy applies even for one of this decades biggest hits; "Infinity 2008" by Guru Josh Project peaking at number 1 and left the countdown a few weeks ago having survived a record of 34 weeks!
