Did anybody hear anything from the Tony Christie album featuring songs and production by Richard Hawley....could be an intersting album to listen to - tho obv didnt find too many homes as the over-familure chessiness of amerillio might but loads of people who are not into the works of former Longpigs-Pulp man off...but even tho you dont want to be reminded of that song or the directions to that city...always good to hear Walk Like a Panther (groooooooowl) :yahoo:

i liked 'walk like a panther' especially as he referanced one of his earlier hits in a disparaging way...

but tbh he was never anything then a cheesy caberet act in a world where rock in all its new forms (glam, prog, heavy) were in fashion.

To me Tony Christie is a cruise ship entertainer who struck it lucky finding a late career boost through Peter Kay

Actually he started out as a Northern Club entertainer. Then had a few hits in the early 70s such as Las Vegas - I Did What I Did For Maria (my favourite) - Is This The Way To Amarillo (solo) - Avenues & Alleyways - Drive Safely Darling

yep and they were all crap!

I neither like or dislike him as a singer, a bit cheesy for me, somewhere between Tom Jones and Englebert. But good luck to him if he still makes a living out of singing.
