January 8, 200916 yr Author THE FUTUREHEADS :w00t: yeah the first album is the best, but TINTW $h!ts all over News and Tributes. N-Dubz over Futureheads :puke2: your a nazi. :snif: Glasvegas
January 8, 200916 yr Author 20 → Carolina Liar - Coming To Terms http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51wq1x7kGkL._SL75_.jpg After hearing the hideous first single 'Im Not Over', I thought ughhh not another Nickleback.. But a few weeks later the album got featured on one of the local radio station, playing every single track and I was blown away.. The band is made up of one american and the rest are scandanavian, pretty random. Their sound is Keane meets The Killers, highlights are the title track 'Coming Terms' as well as the new second single 'Show Me What Im Looking For'. If your bored on youtube, something you should absolutely give a listen. 19 → Usher - Here I Stand http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/517pWHmz4CL._SL75_.jpg As with #20, a vile first single. I simply can't stand 'Love In This Club' or any of his stuff since 99' but at a difficult stage whilst going through personal issues etc; I heard 'Moving Mountains' and to be sobby it actually brought me to tears (on the same day someone passed away) . So it is that type of depro meaning song for me.. But it isnt all frowns coz 'Trading Places' and 'Whats Your Name' are stunningly smooth and sexy tracks. Trust me despite all the bad ratings, this album certainly is a mustbuy and Im sure its a lot cheaper now after it being around a while..you know what to do. Edited January 8, 200916 yr by Katherine.
January 8, 200916 yr Author 18 → Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61WIg93yUrL._SL75_.jpg Another indie alternative band on this countdown. Elbow's hugely successful album earned a well deserved spot on my year end. Originality, amazingness and quality are a few adjectives that come into mind about TSSK. Overall every track has its brilliance but the highlight is, ofcourse 'One Day Like This'. It really is interesting how varied my music taste has become, loving a bit of every genre. Which is reason for you to never ignore a genre or stereotype an artist because you will find something unique in their music if they produce quailty music, obviously. 17 → Michelle Williams - Unexpected http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51CKE2xHLXL._SL75_.jpg The album title says everything. From gospel to electronic dance, who would have thought the overlooked Destiny's Child member would ever look so good? Unfortunately this album did little for her despite it being better than both Kelly Rowland's and Beyonce's which were huge. From happy songs to deep songs to depro and feel good, this has it all. I absolutely love the production and her voice. 'Hello Heartbreak' is by far the best off it. A bit on the negative side are some rappers yakking in between songs, as well as some hideous remixes (which were completely unnecessary), the vilest being the Flo Rida remix of a perfectly perfect 'We Break The Dawn'. January 9, 200916 yr Author 16 → MGMT - Oracular Spectacular http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51w3oh0SMPL._SL75_.jpg At first I thought this band was completely overrated and didn't see the reason for all the hype of 'Time To Pretend' and 'Electric Feel'.. But after hearing 'Kids' I went and bought the album, I've even grown to love the first two singles now. Just shows you what a great difference an album makes to your opinion of an artist/song.. Love their sound too, again a band with their own original style. So happy their chart success is still going strong. :) 15 → Rise Against - Appeal To Reason http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61jJYYrxPwL._SL75_.jpg Filling the #15 spot is American punk rock band Rise Against who have developed a huge fan base over the years by producing consistantly brilliant albums and singles. This is said to be their best album yet and 'Re Education' their best single yet, which I completely agree with. Was always on the fence about their 2006 album but now im a huge fan of these rockers. Oh and I had to mention the album and single covers are really great looking along with the 'Re Education' video.
January 9, 200916 yr Author 14 → Little Jackie - The Stoop http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61WqhINRIfL._SL75_.jpg Some happy cheery music isn't bad for one's health, the two (lol) from Little Jackie are simply amaze. The originally hilarious lyrics, song titles and videos are all just a little showcase to how great they are. The album, unfortunately overlooked by everyone except Pavel, is extremely varied and plain lovely. From the jumping up and down of 'The World Should Revolve Around Me' to the personalised 'One Love' and lesbo love of 'Guys Like It When Girls Kiss'. As silly as it my favourites are 'Black Barbie' and 'LOL' Interesting to see all the american artists ditching their own land to have success in the uk and europe. 'The Stoop', the single, deserves plenty success which it hopefully will get when its out, I think in Feb? 13 → Thriving Ivory - Thriving Ivory http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Yni-StoiL._SL75_.jpg This band just blows me away. Barely have any experience and yet it seems like theyve ben around for like ever. Their debut self-entitled album should be huge this year, almost every track on it is bound to give you goosebumps, eventually. They cross the sound of Savage Garden with uhm I do not know? Paramore? One thing, the lead singer is a guy but at time sounds a bit like a butch deep voiced girl. Highlight is definitely 'Our December' and 'Angels On The Moon' -> I'd die to see them life and they certainly will be one of my bjsc entries, if not the next one.
January 9, 200916 yr Author 12 → Miley Cyrus - Breakout http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51LytHvR+nL._SL75_.jpg The singer who everyone loves to hate and is embarrassed to love, MILEY, just misses out on making the top 10 of 08. Reason being, I've decided not to buy any album untill the deluxe version is out and only got the platinum edition of Breakout almost a week ago so it did brilliantly to get so high on this year end chart. Anyways I love all the 3 singles so much, all with crappy videos. Other than that my huge fav is the dance/sing alongsong, 'Start All Over'. Everyone should just get over criticizing Miley, as annoying as she sometimes is, just give her chance. Miley ftw. 11 → Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51XpfnbPusL._SL75_.jpg At the unlucky number eleven, we find THE Alison Goldfrapp and a stunner of an album. Sooooo amazing it is, quality vocals, originality, variation and even a lovely cover. This album has it all. Unfortunately due to an extremely competitive year it is a bit too low but that shouldn't mean anything. My main favs being 'Caravan Girl' and the breathtaking 'A&E'. Loveit'!

January 9, 200916 yr Author Our tastes differ completely o.o and unfortunately no 'The Script' to come :heehee:
January 10, 200916 yr Author 10 → Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Hajw4IgBL._SL75_.jpg As stubborn as I am, I at first thought this band was pretty $h!t, never really listened to them n all but what a huge mistake that was. Hearing 'Use Somebody' made me buy this outstanding album. Very garage rock and there is just no way, not even a pop fan can not like this. I love the two singles, 'Crawl' but the one that stands out is 'Closer' which oozes with sexyness and is just plain perfect. Other comments the guitarist with long black standing up hair is sooo hot :wub 09 → The Ting Tings - We Started Nothing http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41BfKcReftL._SL75_.jpg They infact started something. After hearing the #1 hit 'Thats Not My Name' on the radio for the first time, I was hypnotised into singing along. Absolutely fab, although I tend to ignore the ending areas of the song as it goes a bit overboard. And the other two singles were amazing aswell as the club appeal of 'Great Dj'. But my favourite, believe it or not is 'We Walk', for some reason I always play it on repeat but anyways I got the deluxe of this, too. They aren't at all bad live either and I hope they continue their success with a second album, and We Walk. You have to love their simple videos and the pretty girl in a two piece alternative dance band is pretty lolish. :heehee:

January 10, 200916 yr Katy Perry - One of the Boys - good album, nothing more best tracks: I Kissed a Girl/Thinkig Of U Lady Gaga - The Fame - very good album, best tracks: Love Game/Paparazzi The Killers - Day & Age - poor album (very disappointing) only one song i like more: Spaceman Usher - Here I Stand - very good album: Best track: What A Man To Do Michelle Williams - Unexpected - same very good album (a way better than Beyonce and Kelly R) Best track: Hello Heartbreak Kings of Leon - Only By The Night: one oof the best albums 2008: Best Track: Closer
January 10, 200916 yr Author 08 → Ladyhawke - Ladyhawke http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51UEJAJtrqL._SL75_.jpg Another alternative dance entry on the countdown. She is like the female punk of the uk and I cant believe such a great album flopped so badly. Her voice is unique and catchy again, as I said about Glasvegas. My favourite is 'Paris Is Burning' and other highlights are 'Back Of The Van' and 'Dusk Til Dawn'. 07 → Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/410HuEDGTqL._SL75_.jpg Yes, Slipknot, you read correctly. I love them to bits. They are completely overlooked and overstereotyped. They make incredible music tbh! Another deluxe edition on the countdown, although I prefer not watching the dvd as those masks completely freak me out. My ultimate favourite is 'Dead Memories' a more alternative than metal song. They arent at all, all death metal. You'd be suprised at how good DM is. Other highlights are the two singles 'All Hope Is Gone' and 'Psychosocial'.
January 10, 200916 yr Author 06 → Bloc Party - Intimacy http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41REzqVXSTL._SL75_.jpg Some love them (Chris, Pavel, Cremey) . Some hate them (Jonjo. :o But one of the albums of the year has made its appearance on this countdown. Another consistantly amaze album from the guys, variation also present. My fav song by the guys are 'Trojan Horse' aswell as 'Talons'. I also do have quite a soft spot for 'Mercury', has some club appeal. Although the previous album/Flux era was so much better, but this is still brilliant and I can go on and on but I have to finnish the countdown tonight.. 05 → Santogold - Santogold http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Jw-9eft0L._SL75_.jpg I remember her bashing her somewhere on this forum before and yes another artist I at first hated and now love :hithead: She sounds a lot like Nelly Furtado, which is a good thing cause 'Folklore' is probably in my top 5 albums of all time. She is also another alternative dance artist on here, this album was boasted and boasted about here in SA untill everybody eventually bought it, including me. And it making the top 5 does say a lot about how much I love it now. Big fav is 'LES Artistes' with 'Say Aha' and 'Shove It' not far behind. The album just has such a vibe to it that you could listen to it over and over again, without it getting old. Anyways superb. Moving onto the final 4 . . :ø
January 10, 200916 yr Author 04 → The Verve - Forth http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51hoHGAv6hL._SL75_.jpg A long time coming, was this. And I wasnt at all disappointed. Imo equally as stunning as the Bittersweet takeover/era. This is IMMENSE. With almost every track being over 5,6 or 7 minutes. They really are such a quality band. This is REAL MUSIC, seeing that Britney Circus Robotica doing better than this makes me so pissed.. Also how on earth did 'Rather Be' do better than the noisy 'Love Is Noise' ? :| The best track is defo 'I See Houses' and a close second 'Sit and Wonder'! 03 → Metallica - Death Magnetic http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/619VGtLZxRL._SL75_.jpg OMGz, Metallica, the best band ever. Their best album ever. Yet it is one of THE albums of the year. Being miles ahead of anyone in the Metal industry. These guys have one of the hugest fanbases atm and I really am proud to be a fan after hearing such a flawless album. The stand outs of course are 'The Day That Never Comes' and 'Cyanide'. Nobody can play music better than they do and for extent of quality and lengths of time than what they do. Metallica ftw.
January 10, 200916 yr Author #2 is a tie! But who will be #1? :o 02 → Snow Patrol - A Hundred Million Suns http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51qex2UK+LL._SL75_.jpg Not a touch on 'Eyes Open' or 'Final Straw' but good enough for #2 here and on the UK albums chart. :dancing: There is just something about Snow Patrol and their music that makes you love them. Its like its just so real and different, and the quality of the album is great too. Tbh I only got it in early December but at first my big fav was the rocketrocketrocket song (oh and btw thats not the song title) but now its 'Lifeboats' with 'Crack the Shutters' and 'Engines' runners up. I also heart being the SP co-mod so while your at it go and post THE forum. :kink: 02 → Gabriella Cilmi - Lessons To Be Learned http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/515XmlrqYZL._SL75_.jpg Okay, everyone knows how obsessed I've been with her and still am. But she really is the second brightest new talent atm, she sings amazingly, performs amazingly, writes amazingly, looks amazingly. She is AMAZING and so is her flawless album which deserved so much more success. My favourite song is 'Save The Lies' which has an awesomely awesome videos. Tied with STL would be 'Sweet About Me', 'Dont Wanna Go To Bed Now' and 'Terrifying' although every track is 9/10+ :wub
