January 20, 200916 yr im just happy that girls aloud are doing so well right now i would have jated a girls aloud album to have sold like the atest sugababes albums, but it really shows how unstable the music business is,huge one minute struggling the next....
January 20, 200916 yr The thing is Sugababes haven't had a singles update on ages, they are well over 7mill with both singles and albums. It would be nice to get a sales update for every single GA and Sugababes release.
January 28, 200916 yr you've got to admit the catalog GA singles are selling better than the sugababes ones though even though they have great tracks like Stronger, Round Round and Hole In the Head, those songs aren't consistant sellers i'm pretty sure the next GA album will see them be the highest selling girl band of the millenium
January 28, 200916 yr Still a fair bit of catching to do to be biggest "of the millenium" though. If Sugababes broke up tomorrow maybe, but if they get back on track with their next album might not happen soon (if at all). Also, can GA duplicate the success of OOC? Cheryl's doing X-Factor this year again isn't she? Conversely there seems to be a new split rumour every day at the moment for GA. Its all "Sheryl in America, Pregnant, Nadine on going solo etc...." Edited January 28, 200916 yr by spicefunk
January 28, 200916 yr I don't know about either group splitting in the near future, but i tell you McFly won't last that much longer.
January 29, 200916 yr Conversely there seems to be a new split rumour every day at the moment for GA. Its all "Sheryl in America, Pregnant, Nadine on going solo etc...." Not at all, there were A LOT MORE splitting rumours after Chemistry, after the GH. Both the TU era and now the OCC era have been quite away from those rumours, mainly due to their growing success.
February 6, 200916 yr Split rumours are the mark of success, its all good :) Btw, i was looking at the sales thread, adding up GA single sales i get between 3.1-3.2mil, not the 3.0 listed (maybe rounding down to be conservative). The babes total just now is approx 3.1-3.2mil too, so they must be neck and neck. Granted, we haven't had updates on a number of the songs of both bands in years so in reality there could be a fair bit in it, but interesting that GA will almost definitely be ahead in a couple of months as Sugababes aren't doing any more singles off the current album, and GA still have two charting plus a possible 3rd/4th etc. In overall record (single+album) sales though i still don't think GA can catch the Sugas for the "Millennium" title, OOC is burning out and they are still several hundred thousand behind (although TU and TSOGA are selling well with the budget price tag but its hard to say how much as we don't get sales figure for the budget chart positions). Thoughts/Feelings? Edited February 6, 200916 yr by spicefunk
February 6, 200916 yr I think the only time we know is if GA actually do pass the Babes and there would be a report on that.
February 6, 200916 yr I'm hoping BRITS hype will help OOC up the charts again, (actually in general, album sales are so poor this January aren't they)

February 8, 200916 yr im so happy to see the promise pass 400,000 and the loving kind will now end up been at least their 12th best selling single and possibly 11th all going well
February 8, 200916 yr WOW! Is Tangled Up gonna reach 500,000? Its done like 25,000 already this year hasn't it? (By the way, i thought musicweek had said SOTU (single) had sold 613,000? Could be wrong though)
February 8, 200916 yr Sound of the Underground - 613,798 http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87170
February 8, 200916 yr where are these figs originally from? Do we know they're accurate? Wish we had a full update on all singles and albums by the babes up to this week! TU selling well!
February 11, 200916 yr OOC will sell loads when the xfactor starts again. I think single 3 will also do a lot for it because it will probably go down in price.
February 13, 200916 yr Won't there be another album by the time XF is back though? Agree OOC will see a price cut but not for a bit yet i'd think :)
