You know I'm a sucker for the S/A/W muzak sound, but Rick doesn't float my boat either. He was enormous in the states though, look at those stats!

So did Astley! He laughed the whole thing off! When offered the award later he donated it to a charity event to be raffled off to raise money for the Garry Newlove anti-violence campaign. A campaign supported by Ricky Tomlinson and Jonny Vegas among others so I believe.

 

I never bothered with Astley in the 80's (although I did have a sort of fondness for Never Gonna Give You Up). However, I saw him at a party in the park a few years back - it was pouring with rain all night ... but the evening was absolutely fantastic and he was great! He was well worth getting drenched for.
