I think it is the time for a little bit more music from other countries than UK and USA here.

Take a listen ! And naturally discuss  ! Perhaps you will discover some old dusted songs with much heart and much truth...

The french music used to have the lyrics on the first place.

Jacques Brel... bon mais je passe. What I really love is 60s French beat music. Stuff like:

Jacques Dutronc - Et Moi Et Moi Et Moi

France Gall - Dents De Lait Dents De Loup / Serge Gainsbourg - Marilou

Ronnie Bird - Chante

Sylvie Vartan - Irresistiblement

Groovy, non?

Completely forgot about Claudine Longet. Sweet girl. Not too exciting for me, but I can't belive I forgot to play "I Don't Intend To Spend Christmas Without You" over Christmas. Comic Strip? Mais oui, monsieur! I have an amazing Gainsbourg double DVD with almost the whole of his French TV performances...
Indeed I have those discs too! And the Brigitte one.

Moi aussi. Brigitte

(OK she's a bit of a right-wing cow now).

My favourite female FRENCH singer from the 60s & 70s has to be the brilliant MIREILLE MATHEU.

She was very remeniscent of the late Edith Piaf.

I actually have a couple of her albums.

Other French female singers I like include Francoise Hardy, France Gall, Guesch Patti, & Alizee.

Mireille Mathieu - La Derniere Valse (The Last Waltz) - her 1967 UK hit peaking at #26

Francoise Hardy - All Over The World - 1965 #16

Alizee - Moi...Lolita - 2002 #9 - Italy TOTP performance

Guesch Patti - Etienne

France Gall - Ella Elle La

Oh yeah, i love France Gall! Inlusive Poupée de cire poupée de son (which I understand she hates).

Does Amelie have new songs?

My fav female singer (apart Edith Piaf) must be Patricia Kaas:

Thanks! I love Alizee, but more so her original mentor, Mylene Farmer. Thanks for posting the France  and Guesch videos. The 80s French music is my other favourite style, I love those artists but also Desireless, Etienne Daho, Indochine, Images, Gold... I first fell in love with French music and language at that time... will post some videos later.
