It HAS to win the majority of its nominations.
January 16, 200916 yr Author See, I think SM is a FANTASTIC film. But I don't think the lead actor(s) are that brilliant. Good- but not fantastic.
January 16, 200916 yr Slumdog Millionaire was excellent. However, I've seen much better this year, namely Milk and Let the Right One In. I'd say it's about on par with Frost/Nixon. Glad to see it doing so well though.
January 17, 200916 yr See, I think SM is a FANTASTIC film. But I don't think the lead actor(s) are that brilliant. Good- but not fantastic. Nah, I wouldn't give Slumdog any acting awards to be fair.... It's kind of more about the experience than about any individual performances.... Not seen Milk yet, but I do like Sean Penn, great actor.... I chose Mickey Rourke because I have seen The Wrestler, and I think his performance in that film is utterly staggering and very naturalistic, I've very rarely seen a more perfect marriage of character and performer in a film, Rourke becomes the character in the same way that De Niro did in Taxi Driver and Raging Bull.... He'd deserve a BAFTA if he got one, an Oscar too.....
January 17, 200916 yr Changeling up for 8 :heehee: GO AN-JO She's good, very good in fact.... But, she aint Kate Winslett..... YET.... More performances like Changeling would perhaps change my mind....
January 19, 200916 yr Has anyone noticed the change of roles from Brad and Ange? Brad > Oceans 11 > The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. Angelina > Wanted > Changeling
January 20, 200916 yr Robert Downer Jr. - Tropic Thunder Really? I can't believe anyone would get nominated for a Ben Stiller comedy! I'll have to see it. Still, if Dev Patel's very average performance (in a truly remarkable film) can get nominated for best lead then I suppose anything's possible. When are these announced? I shall be watching.
March 1, 200916 yr Heard slumdog millionaire is menna be good... Edited March 1, 200916 yr by smithy78
March 2, 200916 yr Has anyone noticed the change of roles from Brad and Ange? Brad > Oceans 11 > The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. It's hardly unusual with Brad, he's worked with Fincher on two previous films - Seven and Fight Club.... He was also in "The Assassination of Jesse James..." which again, is another very thoughful, more intimatel and melancholic epic.... So, no, not really so strange for him these days..... He shows more quality by far as an actor in these sorts of films.... Oceans 11 was still pretty good though... A rare example of a remake which stood up well to the original... But, again, there you have Steve Soderbergh, who's a quality film-maker.... His take on Solaris was also very interesting and rather excellent film-making....
