Posted January 15, 200916 yr The-Dream just dropped his new single "My Love," which features Mariah Carey, but that's not all the two have been up to lately. The-Dream stopped by L.A.'s Power 106 with Big Boy In The Morning, and talked about his new album and the fact that he hadn't gone to sleep yet because he was up all night with Mariah working on new material for her. According to The-Dream, Mariah is already working on a new album and he's been producing some hot new tracks for her. As you may already know, The-Dream is responsible for producing Mariah's huge hit "Touch My Body" off her current album E=MC². ____________________________________________ EXCITEMENT! January 15, 200916 yr So she's probably not pregnant then and the tour was cancelled for other reasons. -_- Oh well a new album soon would be good. She can't make us wait another three years, which was likely if the pregnancy rumours ended up being true.
January 16, 200916 yr Author So she's probably not pregnant then and the tour was cancelled for other reasons. -_- Oh well a new album soon would be good. She can't make us wait another three years, which was likely if the pregnancy rumours ended up being true. Well i'm in 2 minds about the whole pregnancy, I want her to have a baby because she obviously wants one so I think it would be nice for her. However, I fear if she were to have a baby she would be gone for a LONG time, if you think she made us wait 3 years just because she was recording the next one, how long do you think she would take to have a baby, spend time with it, then write and record a new album? Long times... Plus maybe if she had one now it would save her from getting pregnant during the next album and screwing up yet another project? I truly believe that one of the reasons for this album underperforming was the severe lack of promotion (post-Touch My Body) and people seemed to get sick of this whole Nick Cannon thing, and to be honest I am a bit too. Since she's been married to him, he's featured in ALL of the videos she's done since (Bye Bye, I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time, I Stay In Love) and she needs to cut that out, people don't like Nick, end of story. Plus one thing that really bugs me is that she always said after Tommy she would never talk about her private life again... So what does she do? Make Nick the centrepiece of every little thing she does. Interviews, videos, he's even been on stage with her during the odd performance. There's love, but please Mariah - keep it to yourself! I imagine the tour was cancelled because she had difficulty selling tickets for the Adventures Tour and that was coming off the back of a HUGE album that sold 10m worldwide pretty much and she had trouble for that. So how difficult would it be to sell tickets coming off the back of an album which sold what? About 2m worldwide at most? I was thinking about this the other day and usually after a flop album people are quick to rush out another album to save their credibility, a lot of people have done it, Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson (her last was released less than 18 months ago and she's already releasing a new album), Christina Aguilera (yet that failed) and Britney Spears - just to name a few. So I do hope she follows that trend, brings out a corker of an album and is prepared to give the project the attention it deserves.

So I do hope she follows that trend, brings out a corker of an album and is prepared to give the project the attention it deserves. Oh yeah, me too. On the one hand, if she has a baby now she might see that as a good time to retire as she'd be approaching her mid-forties by the time she's ready to release again. But she can't get pregnant mid-era as that will ruin the project again but she needs to get a move on if she's having a baby as she's getting on a bit. (that's probably just my way of thinking because my mum's younger than Mariah and I'm 18 ) Agree about Nick, it seems that when Mariah's in love she can't resist letting everyone know but the fans resent that hse's too loved up to care about the album and her flaunting him about in her videos doesn't help. I never knew the tickets for Adventures had trouble selling. :o I can see why she wouldn't tour with this album then, hopefully she does rush out a decent album and tour them both though I'm not expecting her to.
May 20, 200916 yr From her Twitter: Bcuz I Love U, I want u to be the first to know the title of my new album "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" Its very personal & dedicated to u
May 21, 200916 yr Hmm...don't know if I really like that title. It sounds a bit cheesy and the word 'memoirs' makes me think of the END. (I hope not!) I've changed the title of this thread now, we can put album related stuff etc. in here. :funky:
May 21, 200916 yr Author You can hear a snipet of a new song 'Hate U' here: http://www.mariahpolska.com Interesting! :o Definitely her, definitely not old = definitely new! :o Sounded alright... Really pleased with the news, I was expecting it to be her being up the duff. Thrilled it's not in my own selfish fangirl way. :kink: Quite like the album title, it's different and not an equation so it's all good. :heehee: Now we need some good ol' LEAKS! A release date, few more tidbits and i'll officially be excited. :P
May 21, 200916 yr Author Last night, Chairman & CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid hosted and presented the Island Def Jam's Spring Collection where he unveiled the new and upcoming work from IDJ's stable of artists. The event took place at the Stephen Weiss Studio in New York and was attended by industry people, music reviewers and Def Jam artists. A Mariah song, reportedly titled "Hate U" was played at the event! Shirea L. Carroll from Vibe Magazine live blogged during the event and said, "This is a WBLS hit for sure..." It is not known if "Hate U" will be the lead single off Mariah's new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. More details to come as they become available. Stay tuned! OOOOF. :o
May 21, 200916 yr Wow, all of this news so suddenly. It's great! I think I'll warm to the album title. It's very "Mariah", that's for sure. With regards to the snippet, I think it's real hot. As it's not HQ, I'm unsure if it's lead single material, but it's still strong nonetheless. An official announcement regarding the lead single should be made in the next few weeks (or sooner perhaps?), especially if LA Reid wants the album out by August/September. May 22, 200916 yr Really pleased with the news, I was expecting it to be her being up the duff. Thrilled it's not in my own selfish fangirl way. :kink: Quite like the album title, it's different and not an equation so it's all good. :heehee: Now we need some good ol' LEAKS! A release date, few more tidbits and i'll officially be excited. :P Haha, oh yes, it's good for us that it was about the album. Still not convinced at the title, memoirs reminds me of memories which reminds me of reflecting which reminds me of something ending. Especially now she's married, apparently wanting kids and coming close to 20 years of success it's making me extra suspicious. The clip is being taken down from most places, but you can still hear it here for now: eDegJ13LBtk Not sure if I'm too excited about it, it is old school Mariah but not really the one I get excited about. It's got one of those sexy beats but those kind of vocals don't appeal to make as much. It slightly reminds me of a cross between "Bliss" and something else I can't think of right now.
May 29, 200916 yr What a weird name for an album - I guess that makes unique in a way, I have a theory that Mariah's albums with Complicated names do a lot better than others (of course this only refers to her music on Universal). Mimi did so well (long name) E=MC2 didn't (short name)
June 12, 200916 yr Umm...I guess this goes here: also there's a remix of H.A.T.E.U. that is completely resung which incorperates a "classic" and a POW rap section. I had FUN in the studio!By the way H.A.T.E.U. Stands for something..can anyone guess? The chorus starts w/ "I can't wait to hate you make you pain like I do.." The point is you still love the person.."I can't wait to h.a.t.e.u. cos right now I need you.. What do we think it stands for then? :o
June 16, 200916 yr From the press release sent out today: First came the emancipation, then came energy and power, and now comes MEMOIRS OF AN IMPERFECT ANGEL, the new album by international superstar Mariah Carey, scheduled to arrive on August 25th. The first new single pick from MEMOIRS is "Obsessed," which blasts out to radio today, Tuesday, June 16th. The video for "Obsessed" will be directed by Brett Ratner. "Obsessed" was written and produced by Mariah, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, who are responsible for the majority of tracks on the new album. MEMOIRS was executive-produced by Antonio "L.A." Reid. * So Tricky/Dream did the 'majority' of the album? No pressure on the single being amazing then... :heehee: I'm guessing other collaberators whose songs will make the tracklist will be JD, Walter and BM Cox, and that's probably it.
June 18, 200916 yr Author Me neither! :D Also something has just come to my attention... August 25th, that is the week before Whitney Houston's comeback album too. :o I see a big tabloid fodder "Battle of the diva's" styleeee in the near future. Which also means that Whitney's new single can't be that far off either. Which is brilliant news as a fan, bad news if you don't want them to collide. I would hate to see Whitney either of them knock Mariah the other one off the top spot. :heehee: Provided either of them get there in the first place mind you... It'll be interesting either way... I want Whitney to be huge again and really make herself a prominent name in music as she once was, but not by slaying Mariah, because with E=MC2 not going as well as planned, she really needs to get a good seller under her belt again, but so does Whitney. AHHHH! The excitement will give me a stroke. :(
