February 11, 200916 yr I'm grateful to West Sound for brightening up what is probably my least favourite month of the year, one which hadn't started for me, personally, any better than last year ended. I still wonder when Darius confirmed for this and why we didn't get any forewarning. Maybe he wanted to make it as much of a private visit catching up with old friends and family, as he could. I'm glad he seems to have caught up with Taylor Ferguson. I think he was at that stage where he didn't know what to do with his hair because it was so long and he just slicked it back out of the way. i was beginning to think the pony tail could make an encore.
February 11, 200916 yr I'm just glad I got to hear them. He doesn't normally announce this kind of thing does he? I couldn't have gone anyway and never turn up at gigs he regards as personal. I do get to as many as I can of the advertised ones. He has just about my fave voice for a male singer .
February 11, 200916 yr I wish someone would point me in the direction of other male singers with deep, warm voices. There just don't seem to be many around nowadays, even among "crossover" singers. Actually, come to think of it, male voices just don't seem to be in vogue much at all atm.
May 2, 200916 yr I agree with the lack of male voices, I put on dive in again in the car now its sunny, and both me and daughter reckon you canot beat it for that warm summer feeling, she said she heard colourblind so many times last year in greece - and that it really makes her feel in holiday mode. I put on a queen cd - but alas, even though freddys voice is the other one I love, it doesnt move me like D's for that warm rich feeling- music just isnt doing anything for me without D.
May 2, 200916 yr Funnily enough I was listening to the Burns supper songs yesterday as well, do love his voice on those. I do wonder why even now we dont hear Colourblind even occasionally on the radio. I have heard daniel bedingfields your not the one a few times and that didnt I believe reach no.1 and other artistes who also didnt reach no.1. Here in my area the local statrion I think must be un der SC as all we hear day after day are the samed tunes from his artistes. As has been said Colourblind is ideal for summer.
May 2, 200916 yr And 'Dive In' and ' Stars crash Down' and 'How Do You Like It' and I just love 'Mercury Rising' and Only You. If I hear D on the store radios, i just have to stop and listen. Makes me happier.
May 2, 200916 yr I'm still listening to 'Ae Fond Kiss'. I absolutely love that one. Edited May 2, 200916 yr by megham
May 3, 200916 yr Funnily enough I was listening to the Burns supper songs yesterday as well, do love his voice on those. I thought If Your Not The One did reach no.1 but i'm not sure. Even though i love the song just like i like Live Twice it dose'nt lift my spirits like Colourblind does. I played the Dive In album alot when i was pregnant and my son always kicked alot when Colourblind was on.
May 3, 200916 yr Our local radio station, Radio Manchester, never has played any of Darius's songs  Sue
May 3, 200916 yr No neither does Sounthend radio  !..........Then again Darius' songs are FAR too good for their stations anyway!!! :P
May 3, 200916 yr I think that's a scary thing. they just wouldn't play the singles from 'Live Twice'. Between that and no publicity, it didn't help at all.
May 4, 200916 yr Who knows? The trouble is, radio stations have a lot of power and can control who has a hit. When Capital was taking over stations when 'Live Twice' was due to be released, as they took each station over, Darius' records were removed from their playlists - and their most requested lists. Darius records have rarely been played since then.
May 22, 200916 yr I got goosebumps listening to Ae Fond Kiss early this morning. I'd love to hear a high quality recording of that or better still see Darius singing it live. Maybe it would even rival the first time I saw Darius sing Mercury Rising and Simple Like The Truth. I'm not sure I so much as took a breath through Mercury Rising.
May 22, 200916 yr I'm glad I'm not alone loving that one, not that it'd make any difference. I love the tone and the range and the accent certainly doesn't bother me. I'm not tired of listening to it yet.
May 22, 200916 yr Aw, I love Darius's own Scots accent. I think he was absolutely right to rev it up a bit further for traditional Burns Supper songs. Equally, IMHO he was right to use his natural pop voice for Caledonia because it's a contemporary song and part of its impact is its honest yearning. What I don't like about some of the versions I've heard of it, is that they seem to lack warmth and genuine emotion, no matter how technically well they're sung.
May 22, 200916 yr I also love the songs he sang at the Burns supper, his accent and his perfection of it. Tio cghange the subject lasst night I watched the film for the first time of P
