January 16, 200916 yr So Coldplay are finally actually releasing something from this era?! :o :cheer: Hope Life in Technicolour II does well
January 16, 200916 yr No problem. I think you're right about the January clearout. The close of Woolies last week speeded it up dramatically, with artists like Rhydian and Same Difference's albums plummeting out of the top 100. As for Poker Face, persoanlly I love it, so I wish it was higher, but I presume that the iTunes demographic is such that it sells more there than on other sites. Younger I guess. And more up-to-date/trendy/wannabe-ish  Yep SD dropped to 186 (124 places) this week. Is that nearly a record?! Thanks for doing Tom, more chart and less chat than the mids, and more complete and up to date to boot (Not taking anything away from Martin though who puts loads of time in). Love this thread, and your commentary was very Dave-esque so i'm not missing him!
January 17, 200916 yr Author I did my best :) This is only one chart, and a great one, so I'm really happy to be doing it for Dave, but really the mids is a job in itself! I think Mart!n does a fantastic job of managing the mids thread. Tried to do a bit to help lately, but I can't keep up the pace of it! God knows how Mart!n does it...

I know, the thread is immense its the traffic thats the problem not Martin! I'm really glad he (and others) take the time, its info we just wouldn't have otherwise. I've always wondered tom, when Dave (or yourself) list the top preorders, is that only those copies preordered in the last 7 days or is it a cumulative total from when a record is available to preorder until its release? Has always bugged me a bit Edited January 17, 200916 yr by spicefunk
January 17, 200916 yr Author I think it's in the last seven days, but I'm not sure... will get onto Dave and let you know.

January 17, 200916 yr I didn't think much of Lily Allen's first album, but I really do like The Fear and it's looking on course to do very well :) I was really shocked to see a big fall for Girls Aloud on the album chart with Out Of Control, then I remembered that you include compilation albums in your list. I thought about asking you to do a list of just artist albums, but then realized I was just being lazy because it's not really that difficult to imagine the positions without them :P Though I did wonder why you do combine all albums, as the official charts haven't listed them like that for (I believe) over 20years now? Even ignoring the compilations, it's still quite a fall for Out Of Control considering both The Loving Kind and The Promise are in the top 40 singles :(

Reply from Dave: The pre-orders is the whole of it, since available to pre-order..this increases, of course day by day. If it was 7 days, songs would go up and down inconsistently of each other. For instance Meat Loaf`s new album, scheduled for a release in Jan 2010, can you believe, is already available to order, and will most definately be number one next Jan! So now you know :)

January 18, 200916 yr Good work, Tom. Lady GaGa sold 2.8K physicals to rank at #2 on the physical chart last week. I highly doubt that GA sold more than 3K physicals this week. i highly doubt they DONT sell more than 3k physicals, every GA fan ive heard from in the UK has bought both copies
