Duffy, Girls Aloud, Kings Of Leon unveiled for Brits

By Paul Williams

Duffy, Girls Aloud and Kings Of Leon have been newly-announced as part of this year’s Brits performance line-up.

The three acts, who all topped both the UK singles and albums charts last year, join a live bill that also includes U2 and outstanding contribution award recipients Pet Shop Boys.

Following previous press speculation, organisers have also finally confirmed that Gavin and Stacey stars Matthew Horne and James Corden will host the February 18 ceremony at London’s Earls Court with Kylie Minogue.

These disclosures come ahead of the industry gathering at the Roundhouse in Camden on Tuesday night for the nominations launch party where Gabriella Cilma, Scouting For Girls and this year’s Critics’ Choice winner Florence & The Machine will perform live.

Brits committee chairman Ged Doherty says, “With performances from U2 and Pet Shop Boys already confirmed, the addition of Girls Aloud, Duffy and Kings Of Leon to the bill means we are heading towards a truly special Brits this year. Added to Kylie, Mathew and James hosting, it’s going to be a must-see event. With the nominations launch taking place tomorrow night, the countdown to the 2009 Brits is now truly underway.”

Amazing news! I'm so thrilled about this, their album sales will rocket even more!
Fantastic news. This should definatly mean a few nomination then, and maybe even a win.

Oh My God ! :o

A brit performance :o

2008 has definetely been the best year for GA, and it looks like 2009 is gonna be even more amazing for them !!

We were praying for a Brit nomination last year, and this was already a big achievement, and now this year we get a live performance, so surely a nomination or two in the bag ! :cheer:

Those girls will never stop :P

Interesting, aren't two of the girls surposed to be half way up a mountain then, unless they are dropping out of the Comic Relief Kilimanjaro adventure.

OMG could mean that they finally get a Brit maybe and with a performance it'll be great!!!

Yeah the album could rise again :D

i suspect they'll perform the promise though as their biggest hit, and as it will be the nominated song and i'd just love a new song or the loving kind...

maybe they could do the loving kind and the promise it some kinda brits mix! great news though!

I'm sure they've planned it the right way so they can attend the Brits.

There is a Take That member with them too, and I don't see him missing the Brits neither.

They're also presenting the Brits Nominations with Fearne Cotton tommorow night on ITV2 at 8pm, this along with a performance (WHICH IS INCREDIBLE AND SHOWS HOW WELL RESPECTED THEY NOW ARE) should guarentee at least one nom right?!
The Brits look really good this year! I love the hosts and the performers, I just hope we get some decent winners.
I guess that Girls Aloud will be up for Best British Band, Best Single and possibly Best British Album?

They should perform "The Loving Kind" tomorrow then !

Hopefully this is not their only performance, and they will be on the main show in February too !

Nah, they're just presenting apparently.

Would be funny to see the girls reaction to their own nominations while they're presenting !

I can imagine Nicola going "up for Bst Band, Best Live, Best Album and Best Single? well, it's about f***ing time really !!!"
