If Take That call it a day again after a third studio album and a new enivatable greatest hits i think Mark will return to his solo career and probably make at least another solo album, mark has his own label which he was running before the take that re union so im sure all the money he will have made from Take That phase 2 will help him finance more solo album, from what i can make out from he has kept a certain amount of the money he made safe and the rest he uses for solo albums etc but prob has a deadline when to stop putting money into it,the millions made from this retrun will probably be dealt with in the same way he will put plenty aside and keep some for playing with,Agin Mark wa slucky in one way as the press didnt jump to much on him when his solo career wasnt going well,i think it was highly expected when take that first split that mark like gary would so well

I think it is fair to say Mark would have highly expected to go down a pop route with his solo career and probbaly something on th elines of robbie;s solo material with a but more pop,his take that fans never ex[ected the material he released, and many were hugely disappointed with the riute he went, personaly i love the green man album and i still think its his best solo album and i remember i was shocked when green man made something like a number 33 debut in the charts.

I think overall none of them have half as much to lose as first time round, they are older and wiser now and they know what life is like outside the boyband era as they have all experienced many lows, this time i think they know they have a normal life to retun to that they had before phase 2 so i ont think any of them will be too bothered bout their solo careers as they obviouosly have ways to fulfill what they need outside the music business, with them all been parents except jason their priorites are differnt now however only this time their bank balances will be a hell of alot more healthier.

I was hoping that Robbie would give Mark the hand, but when he didn't do it before 2005 , it is pointless to believe he will do that now.

I honestly don't see what Robbie could have to offer Mark. Rob is a good lyricist ... but he cannot write music. I may be old fashioned here ... but I cannot take seriously someone saying they write music ... when they cannot play a musical instrument. Gary can play keyboards (excellently) and piano (reasonably) ... Mark can play guitar (well) and keyboards (reasonably) ... Robbie can't play either! For me - if I was rating the best writers in Take That - I'd put Mark & Gary on a par and Rob quite a way behind them (although I must admit ... his lyrics are somewhat witty) He's an entertainer (much more so than Gary & Mark) but he is NOT a musician.

And when Rob pulled Mark up on stage at one of his mega-concerts ... it was just for show. I honestly don't think he (at the time) gave a stuff about Mark.

A agin i think Mark and Robbie were frinds and when mark went on stage with robbie i truly believe it was a genuine friendship thing,,thing no wis they are as big a seavh other again and they still seem to be mates mark has always fel guilty over robbie so mark singing with robbie was good for mark also.

For me Robbie is simply an entertainer and is not a song writer or anything like,he is a brilliant entertainer but thats about it for me,gary is the complete opposite to robbie in that way and mark may be a tiny tiny bit in the middle.

I may be a terrible sceptic here but for me - Rob is a user. Deep, deep down inside I think he has a little bit of feeling for Mark but that is all. And I don't for a minute believe his new found 'friendship' with Gary. Having said that .... I don't believe Gary's 'newfound friendship with Robbie'.

Norma

I think Gary and Robbie are now more like people who put up with each other more than anything, now maybe im been spectic but how gary could ever forgive robbie for what he done is beyond me and if gary is that forgiving i highkly praise him but robbie wasnt to far away from pushing gary to suicide as gray nearly went as low as one can go,gary bounced back well and maybe gary likes to talk about his brilliant wife and kids around robbie in a nice way letting him know at the end of the day i have what you dream of!!
I want to buy it this week but I prefer to get my tracks with their B-Side. My store of choice is 7digital but they aren't selling the B-Side so I'm holding out and contemplating my options.
i have to wait for the phyisical a friend of mine is going to galway saturday so i will get my mate to get c opy for me,mine will only count to the irish charts though

To be honest Pete ... that's the best thing really - nothing much is going to help it in the UK chart anyway. Fingers crossed it'll make the top 5 in Ireland - it'll prove that the Irish do have a better music taste than the UK!

Norma

i cant see it making top 5 in ireland, remember id wait for life only made number 32 and they have yet to have a number 1 single here since their return although shine patience and rule the world were huge hits and greatest day did very well,,,its hard to know how up all night will peak here though

Down in the midweeks again!

It is weird - it is only doing fractionally better than IWFL and yet it has sold way, way, way more copies that that one did! I think IWFL has still only sold about 10,000 copies in total!

Norma

id say id wait for life would be around 25,000-30,000 in total up until now,up all night including this week will have sold about 50,000 at the least
  • 2 weeks later...

i love up all night i wanted it to get in the up 5 but neva mind

heard the next single is the garden but only in germany how true is this

i dont think we know anything for definite yet only that it is getting a release in germany, they performed the garden on comic relief but that doesnt guarantee a cd single it may simply hae been a ploy to gain interest in the album again and they could very well choose something else as the 3rd uk/ireland single

It worked though! The album sold 20K last week in comparison to 15K the week before. Not bad considering that in the weeks following Christmas - it was selling less than 10K a week.

I think if they are going to release a third single in the UK it will be The Garden. To be honest ... the more performances I see of it similar to the one on the Dutch show and the one in Italy - I haven't any complaints about it ... because it really is good. I can't believe I'm saying that as a few weeks ago I was dead-set against The Garden. Back to the reasons (or reason) though ... they will have a ready made video all done and dusted - the one from the German release. It won't chart well because loads of people will already have it ... but like UAN ... it'll prompt album sales just a bit more. Plus ... it'll be a nice preamble to the tour!

if it is a single it wont make top 10 but like you said norma it will increase album sales and i think from their promotion methods that what they seem to be aiming for as in some ways single success is becoming less and less relivent where all focus is on album, any press around take that music wise has focused on album sales and rarely mention single sales that including the now almost double platnum selling rule the world..

Then agian with beautiful world they went with different 3rd singles in different area;s although i still think reach out should have been the 3rd single from the album and not the rather dull id wait for life

Even albums will die out soon though! The big money is in the touring and the merchandise that goes with it.

I must defend IWFL - it is a nice sog. But too quiet for a single. Myself i still want Hold up a light as a single, but taking in account they filmed a video for "The Garden2"; whcih were not shown yet in Germany or any other country, that they made the video for UK.

If it not charts well, we grow over that. I saw only an article in which the autor labbels UAN as a flop and one or two discussion about it not charting well (and one in TheSun forums, which really don't count as they are driven from a very obsessed person ).

The big artists remains those selling albums , so i am quite happy for the Circus, as i feared the new direction will drive the listeners away.

They should do perhaps like Beatles: their singles were not on studio albums - here an incentive to get both! If you think: Rule the world sold buckets, because was brill and not on the album. They should stick to that and release every half year a good single :w00t: . That i would like, that would also make an Greatest Hits also relevant!
