This is from Shannon Noll - Australian male artist who was runner-up on Australian Idol in 2002 or 2003 - can't remember which:

Hi Guys, I just wanted thank all of you for your never ending support for me not just over this tour and buying my new album but the dedication to show up and support me never ceases to amaze me, so thanks guys couldn't do it all without you...

2009 is going to be a busy year for me. I will be off to the States in January where I will be writing for my next album which I hope to be recording by the end of 2009. Then its over to London after that where I will be catching up with the organisers of The War of the Worlds and doing single and album promotion for Sony Music. I am going to be part of the War of the Worlds production which will be touring around the UK and Europe during June and July of 2009. While I am in London I have a gig booked at the Borderline on the 3rd of March which I am really looking forward to. I will be releasing the single SHINE in the UK and the album "What Matters The Most" comes out in the UK on May 4.

Then it's back home after London and doing a bit more touring in Queensland and Victoria in March and April before I head off back to the UK for the War of the Worlds tour. I'm looking forward to some time off with my family over Christmas and the new year before heading off to the States in January.

Thanks again guys for everything, my fans are absolute champions. Hope you all have a merry Christmas and we will see you all next year.

Shannon X

Press Release:

"SHANNON NOLL, AUSTRALIA’S MAJOR ROCKSTAR, MAKES HIS UK ALBUM DEBUT WITH

‘WHAT MATTERS THE MOST’

OUT ON RCA ON MONDAY 4 MAY 2009

SINGLE DOWNLOAD ‘SHINE’ OUT 27 APRIL 2009

Shannon Noll, Australia’s ‘leading male artist’, is set to take his music global, with the release of ‘What Matters The Most’ his debut UK album, released by RCA on 4 May. His soaring rock track ’Shine’ is the single release out on 27 April.

Shannon Noll burst onto the Australian music scene just five years ago and has never looked back. He has forged a career that has re-written Australian chart history; a career born of necessity after personal tragedy. With the resounding chorus of his first UK single ‘Shine’ firmly ringing in his ears, proclaiming ‘this is the time, the day that we’ve been waiting for’, Shannon Noll is now ready to take the UK by storm.

A last-minute entrant to the competition, in 2003, he wowed judges and the entire nation to come runner up in the first ever Australian Idol. In the short five years since then, Shannon Noll has achieved a record-breaking 10 consecutive top 10 singles including 5 Number One’s, his songs have become official sports anthems not only in Australia but also in the UK (Cricket on Channel 5) and the US, and the combined success of his album sales in Australia has given Shannon platinum selling status 11 times over. Not bad for a farmer’s son from Condobolin, Australia!

‘What Matters The Most’ is 12 tracks of genuine, uplifting and honest music with heart and soul. From opener ‘Shine’ with its call to action - ‘Get up, get up, and lift your head’ - to the rabble rousing ‘Loud’, which pointedly asks the listener, ‘Who would ever believe that this could happen to me?’ the songs are a reflection on the last five years going from near destitution to the top of the charts. The heartfelt ballad ‘Now I Run’, is particularly poignant, inspired by the tragic death of his father, which spurred Shannon to join Idol. The album displays the full repertoire of Shannon’s skills, demonstrating exactly why he is one of Australia’s biggest selling artists, and already considered an icon in his home country.

Shannon is not without famous fans either; Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora co-wrote and played on the album track ‘Sorry Is Just Too Late’. About working with Shannon, Richie commented, ‘Shannon is a rock and roll steed… a classic voice with a contemporary flair. We had a great time working together.’ Shannon also received the help of a certain Mr Bryan Adams, who co-wrote the song ‘Drive’ and later invited Shannon out on tour with him as main support.

His duet with Natalie Bassingthwaite (Rogue Traders), of the Kate Bush / Peter Gabriel classic ‘Don’t Give Up’ echoes the entire sentiment of the album and compliments the 11 other songs that make up ‘What Matters The Most’.

To celebrate the release of his album, Shannon will be playing a one-off show at the 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Friday 8 May, and will be hitting the stage in June with a role in the UK arena tour of Jeff Wayne’s The Musical Version of The War Of The Worlds, opposite Jennifer Ellison.
