Typical, I've just found a demo (just vocals & a programmed keyboard) that is very new & lovely that should appear on a certain act's next album (that is rather different from what they've done before) that they are / have been recording that I think could be a perfect entry for BJSC XV, and would have been a perfect Nonsuch entry and very different to most entries in BJSC XIV had I discovered it a few days earlier.

 

Damn, I'm just going to have to hold tight for a while & hope no one else here discovers it on t'net before then.

I can totally sympathise with you though, I was sitting on Lights for two and half months before enterring her in XIII, my heart raced everytime I checked to make sure no one else had reserved her

Announcement Regarding Final of BJSC XIV

 

Because of the fact this is the largest Buzzjack Song Contest to date, and I've always intended to try something different when I hosted, Herzebania will be trying something new with this month's final, only done once before (and that was unintentional!)

 

I know that some of you will go for this idea, while others will be out with their pitchforks, but I think in the climate of the ever growing contest it is worth a try.

 

I can officially announce that the final results of the 14th Buzzjack Song Contest will take place over two nights (Sunday 8th and Monday 9th March).

 

Personally, I always thought that the Kingdom of Shadow's final being held over two nights, and the suspence this created was an unintentional stroke of genius, but the deciding factor was the fact that 47 sets of votes probably is pushing the boundaries of exactly how long a final can actually go on for. Therefore it will be split up into two nights to break up the potential monotony, and hopefully create extra drama as well.

 

I apologise to the traditionalists among you, but hopefully this can be a great final!

That's what I thought to start with but he said next album, suggesting there has already been one and he wasn't being gender specific, which is either being more cryptic or perhaps it's a group? Plus...has she done anything that sounds quite different to anything she's done before or sounds different to most of what is in the BJSC?

I heard about a planned foreign language spin-off contest from somewhere... is that due before or after BJSC XV?

 

As a new country, and considering the cheapness backlash, I'm just going to enter all the songs I loved from the 90s and early 00s in the next few contests that I don't think other people really heard. Then again, it depens how Alcazar do...

I'm not quite sure when the next spin-off is due, we've only just had one and I think we're back on schedule to last years contests now. I think BJSC VI was in mid-May and VII was in late June (partly because of Eurovision, then I had to fit it around my exams) so we might have another one then?

I've decided, to get back into the schedule there'll be another spin-off in May after the ESC (so we can go back to mid-month contests), but that will be it for the year probably (not including the Best of obv).

what if the some of the hosts are unable to host 'mid-month' if they are busy like Peter has been in recent weeks...instances such as these might throw us off schedule again :P

I was thinking about it but don't really have enough time to scroll through all of the song lists to see but it would be very interesting to have a top ten of the most used artists...I'm assuming The Veronicas, September, MIA, Lady GaGa, Lily Allen, Girls Aloud and rather more oddly, Sibel Redzep would be right up there :lol:

I won't lie. I didn't really enjoy the spin-off as much as I thought I would, although maybe that's only because I didn't discover any new music by it? could we not leave it until late summer and rejig the 'schedule' a tad

I could do that, I'm so bored, I'm doing an arrow word, browsing Buzzjack and listening to the semi 2 songs at the moment. This would be more productive, I'm sure. :lol: I assume I would include featuring artists as separate entries? e.g. "O...Saya" = 1 entry for M.I.A. and 1 for A.R. Rahman. What about groups? I'm sure Mutya has a lot of entries on her own and with the 'babes.
