The Birmingham four-piece originally fronted by Ozzy Osbourne were hugely influential in the development of heavy metal rock music.

Were any of you fans of Ozzy's former band, and were any of you fans of his replacement (when Ozzy flew solo) Ronnie James Dio?

I prefer Dio tbh, Ozzy will always be associated with Sabbath but for me Ronnie James Dio is the best rock singer of all time, got all his stuff from Elf, Rainbow, Sabbath, his solo stuff etc

Only solo stuff I liked from Ozzy was Blizzard Of Ozz album which to me is a classic

in the 70's (pre punk) music was very polarised, and if you liked sabbath you were invariably a biker... lol... i wasnt, so whilst the music was good... it wasnt my scene.

cant deny their achievements though, being the template many have followed.

Sabbath, one of the greatest bands of all time....End of.....

Ozzy for me Craig I'm afraid.... I just never thought Dio's voice suited Sabbath's style...... It would be like having Johnny Rotten or Joe Strummer fronting Rush or Genesis really......

Dio is one of the worst rock vocalists. He sounds like a helium filled dwarf. (or should that be little person.)

Sabbath (and Purple and Zep) defined heavy rock in the early 70s.

Their most over-looked track must surely be Supernaut which has one of Iommi's greatest riffs.

Like Rob, most of their stuff passed me by, only really liked Paranoid if I was being honest. I prefer them now looking back, but not at the time.
