So after many years of being in production the first of the X-Men Origins films (I believe a Magneto one is also in production with Sir Ian returning) is finally being released this year.

The film is set 20 years before the first X-Men movie and will tell the story of how Logan became Wolverine.

 

 

This actually does look surprisingly good :o I shall be going to watch.

so not only do they ruin the character Wolverine in 3 X-Men films they go and ruin him even more in this... thing.

 

If they are gonna make comic book movies they could at least get the characters f***ing right, by the trailer it seems like they messed up his back story a bit (keeping the same plot lines, but not doing it right) AND WHERE THE f*** IS HIS HAIR? call me gay but Wolverine is meant to be a hairy charcater yet here he is all shiny skin.

 

And furthurmore, not only have they ruined Wolverine but it seems now they are going on to ruin Deadpool who is like my favourite comic book charceter ever after The Punisher, first thing they have f***ing Ryan Reynolds playing him, doesnt suit the character in my opinon, and secondly where the f*** are his scars? Deadpool is meant to be a mutilated character, if he isnt then that completly f***s up his back story, he only became Deadpool when he got the scars, but yet the have f***ing pretty boy Ryan Reynolds instead, pathetic. AND they messed the costume up, Deadpool NEEDS his mask.

 

Anyway this film will obviously be $h!t because they had to cameo the characters Deadpool and Gambit so more people would see it, so the film is proberly an epic fail.

yeah i have read that too, which i dont think can be good for the character tbh. i dont think he translates to film well, they definatly got the look wrong anyway.

Personally, I'm more interested in the Magneto film tbh.... You've got the whole thing regarding the Holocaust which forms his whole reasoning and rationale when he fears that history repeats itself with the Mutants becoming like the Jews in the gas chambers... It was this that really made Magneto one of the more complex and interesting Marvel "villains", because Magneto had a very powerful motive and a reasoning behind his actions, and in a lot of ways, you could actually sympathise with his reasons, even when they seemed irrational, they were seemingly "irrational" because of the horrors he witnessed in the concentration camps....

 

Goes back to Nietzche innit...? "when you fight monsters, beware you do not yourself become a monster....".

Im not even bothered about this movie if im honest, proberly wont even go and see it, im sick of these really poor comic book movies, i used to like them but in these post-Dark Knight times i expect the standard to be higher, and quite frankly this film looks poor.

 

These movies need to get the characters better, like Iron Man. mehh im going off such mainstream comics anyway.

I'd agree with that.... The Dark Knight has really raised the bar in terms of this sub-genre of film.... "Watchmen", flaws aside, comes reasonably close to matching it, but Wolverine, I dont think will get even close to Watchmen...

 

I'd like to see someone tackle "Sandman" or "John Constantine - Hellblazer" (properly, it must be stressed, with a BRIT actor like Tim Roth, Gary Oldman or Rufus Sewell in the role, as opposed to a plank like Keanu Reeves...), or maybe something like The Invisibles.....

Well, as always, it depends on the director innit....? And the script, obviously... Neil Gaiman has written screenplays before, so obviously, he's the natural pick for doing the script.... Director-wise, you're really looking at someone like Guillermo Del Toro, who, I feel can really bring Morpheus' world to life, and I think his vision of Hell would be absolutely frightening and astounding at the same time.....

 

If you did a Sandman film, then you could get a "Lucifer" or "Death" spin-off film too...... ;)

 

Casting... Now, that's an even trickier one.... 10 years ago, you'd say Johnny Depp as Morpheus almost without question..... These days, I dunno, you may need someone a bit younger, suitably intense... Kate Beckinsale or Natalie Portman as his "older" sister Death I think would be quite good tbh, Tilda Swinton would be ideal as Desire, as she's an attractively androgenous actress.. Main "villains", well, you'd have to have Lucifer and Dr Destiny really wouldn't you.....?

Ah right I see. So has it been confirmed that A.) he's had/got cancer in this film and B.) has undergone Weapon X treatment? I didn't know he had anything to do with Weapon X and thought he was a vigilante of sorts - how silly of me! :lol:
