February 4, 200916 yr I think it is just teenage girls having fun, i don't there was any racist intent. She has actually commented on twitter about it, which you can see below. dident say anything i took a picture and it made it seem like i was making fun of asian people witch wasent the case :[ She apologises here. I apoligize if i offened anybody in the asian commuity All those millions in the bank and a daddy to pay for the best education for her and she still can't spell :(
February 4, 200916 yr All those millions in the bank and a daddy to pay for the best education for her and she still can't spell :( That's probably the most scandalous thing of all when you think about it.....
February 4, 200916 yr she's a normal girl! That has to be the biggest pile of cr@p you've ever written Jark.... A normal girl....? Yeah, cos every "normal girl" has their own TV shows and music careers, and rich rock star daddies who use their influence to further their offspring's career dont they....? Yeah, Miley Cyrus sure is a "normal teenager" just like Harry Windsor is just a "normal soldier"....... Like it or not, she IS a role model, young teenagers do tend to be influenced by the whole "Hannah Montana" bullsh"t, FAR more than they would be by Homer or Bart or Peter Griffin.... I wish to god it weren't true, but it is..... You honestly dont believe that the media has an influence on our lives....? You're deluded..... You just have to look at the fuss made of sh1te like Big Brother or X-factor to see that that simply isn't the case.....
February 4, 200916 yr I've seen more worst pictures of girls her age from my school. And you honestly believe that's okay do you....? Why are teenage girls so stupid as to put these sorts of things up on Facebook or Myspace....? Dont they realise that there are potentially VERY dangerous people out there.....? And do you think that Miley Cyrus making this sort of thing appear "acceptable" is going the make the problem better or worse Josh....? She has big, burly built-like-brick-sh!thouse BODYGUARDS with concealed firearms to protect her from potential harm, they typical ordinary teen girl in the street does not.....
February 4, 200916 yr People KNOW that David Brent is a character played by Ricky Gervais..... Whereas Miley Cyrus is an actual person and supposedly a "role model" for teenagers and young girls.....I mean, come on, first it's partially clothed "artistic" photographs (this girl is UNDERAGE in the US ffs, so it's bordering on the extremely dodgy, who is the intended "audience" for these photos, you think it's all chin-strokey arty types who'll witter on about the "composition" or the "use of lighting"....?), now she's making extremely dodgy racist gestures... I mean, what the fukk has got into this silly little bint.....? Unfortunately the fact that she IS a role model will mean that impressionable teenagers will tend to copycat.... So, is going around semi-clad and making racist "slitty eye" gestures the sort of thing that young, impressionable, pubescent girls ought to be doing....? Errr, no...... .......and people know miley cyrus is a very silly little spoiled brat who like other kids likes p***ing about. she wasn't being racist, she was being a pillock, everyone can see that can't they?
February 4, 200916 yr .......and people know miley cyrus is a very silly little spoiled brat who like other kids likes p***ing about. I wouldn't exactly call the very much contrived and carefully and deliberately posed shots done by a respected photographer like Annie Liebowitz to be "p"ssing about"..... The 'slitty eye' thing might be construed as p!ssing about, but not the other thing, which I kind of regard as being the more dangerous of the two considering what some girls ARE actually putting on Social Networking sites..... One has to say at some point.... "well, they're getting the idea to do this sort of thing from somewhere....", and if you think that the all-pervasive mass media does not take some role in directing peoples' behaviours and influencing them in certain ways, then you seriously underestimate the power of the media..... Remember that headline after the '92 election "It Was the Sun Wot Won It..."? Yeah, dont tell ME that the media doesn't play a role...... and WE know that Miley Cyrus is a very silly, spoiled little brat, because we're grown up enough to know better.....Miley Cyrus is NOT for the likes of you and me though, she's aimed at the 10-16 year old demographic who listen to manufactured pop and watch the X-Factor, who would be pretty unlikely to see her in that more adult light...... And this is surely the whole problem, they see that Miley does something and then dont see the harm in doing it themselves.... "If MILEY cavorts around semi-naked and puts up pics of herself on the net, then, hey, no harm in ME doing it, it's just for fun, just for my mates.....". Yeah, right, no harm, until the paedos who disguise themselves as "mates" see those pics you innocently put up on Facebook and start grooming you that is..... <_< Miley is a stupid, stupid girl who is putting other innocent, stupid girls in potential danger..... Let's NOT pretend that this sh!t ain't happening.....
February 4, 200916 yr What the hell is all this about it being 'normal'? This girl is 16... sure, maybe me and mates would've done something like this when we were about 11 or 12, but I couldn't imagine any of us finding something like that funny in the last couple of years... why WOULD you find it funny unless you genuinely are racist? And a lot of people here are saying they wouldn't be influenced just by something a celebrity does, but they forget that a lot of Miley Cyrus's fans are presumably girls aged about 10, who WOULDN'T see a problem with doing this kind of gesture to some Asian kid on the playground if their idol was doing it.
February 4, 200916 yr OMG!!! Kids have been doing this for friggin ages and Miley Cyrus ain't gonna change anything... Like i said before, kids shows/cartoons do it all the time and they don't get any stick for it. The only thing that makes this case any different is that Miley is a celebrity and therefore an easy target to bring down. Like i said before, i'm not defending her but god some people in this thread...
February 4, 200916 yr ...this girl is UNDERAGE in the US ffs, so it's bordering on the extremely dodgy... She was underage in the UK too, she was 15 when the photoshoot picture was taken. Just because she's been slapped with a barrel of make-up to make her look a few years older, it doesn't destroy the fact that she's FIFTEEN! It's just like a year 10 school girl being photographed nude with a $h!tty sheet round her! Shes done far too many of these pranks for now, i couldn't care less whether she's just being 'a normal girl' or 'acting her age', she's now a "celebrity (I use that term lightly ) millions of teenage girls look up to her and replicate what they do whether its good or bad, she chose to be in the limelight and if she acts like a twat she holds the consequences! Nothing more she can do will matter to me anymore... bint! -_-
February 4, 200916 yr OMG!!! Kids have been doing this for friggin ages Kids do... 16-year-olds don't. Even if she isn't explicitly racist, the fact she finds it funny to make her eyes "slitty" implies she thinks Asian people's appearance is funny, which she should've grown out of long before now... I know I had by the time I was 16, as had pretty much everyone else at my school (sure, there would've been some twats who hadn't, but they would definitely have been the minority). And what kids' shows/cartoons regularly make "slitty-eyed" gestures?

Some movies even take the p***... *Me love you long time?* And a 16 year old is a kid... Young adult if you want to be technical but still a kid... And how do we even know she was taking the p*** out of Asian people's appearance?? The media sees two things with a link and OH LOOK SHES BEING RACIST! If anything the media is being racist. All she done was pull her eye lids back - Pulling faces. She didnt make a video of them trying to impersonate a member of the Asian community. This is the stereotypical view of the media and the general twisting of words just to sell and its things like this that make me sick to even consider a job in the media... This is the stereotypical view of the media and the general twisting of words just to sell and its things like this that make me sick to even consider a job in the media... I don't remember the Simpsons EVER doing it, and I've seen almost all of the episodes apart from the ones made in the last 5 years or so. As for Family Guy, they may have done it at one stage, but only incredibly ironically... and it's definitely pushing it to describe that as a kids' show anyway. And if she didn't find how Asian people look funny, then why is she doing it? Where's the joke?

And if she didn't find how Asian people look funny, then why is she doing it? Where's the joke? The Simpsons/Family Guy always have racial jokes. Its in practically every episode. I didnt call it a kid show. I said kid show/cartoon. Your asking me like i know? Like i was there when she done it
February 4, 200916 yr Well again, I don't remember there ever being a racial joke in The Simpsons that wasn't explicitly ironic, but whatever...
February 6, 200916 yr OMG!!! Kids have been doing this for friggin ages and Miley Cyrus aint gonna change anything... Like i said before, kids shows/cartoons do it all the time and they dont get any stick for it. The only thing that makes this case any different is that Miley is a celebrity and therefore an easy target to bring down. Like i said before, im not defending her but god some people in this thread... So, I take it you defend Disney pimping her out as a 15 year old to Annie Liebowitz to make her up like some slutty piece of "freshly fukked" p**** jailbait then...... yeah, cos that's real healthy and "normal" and what kids should be doing.....
February 6, 200916 yr Well again, I don't remember there ever being a racial joke in The Simpsons that wasn't explicitly ironic, but whatever... Same here..... Race issues on Family Guy, South Park and The Simpsons are always tackled with a healthy dose of irony and satire and they have a context..... You know, so you actually know damn fine it's not racism.... I dont really see any context as such with these photos of Miley doing the slitty eye thing.... Where's the joke, where's the irony....? She says it was "goofing around".... Well, sorry, but what does that mean exactly....?
February 6, 200916 yr She was underage in the UK too, she was 15 when the photoshoot picture was taken. Just because she's been slapped with a barrel of make-up to make her look a few years older, it doesn't destroy the fact that she's FIFTEEN! When you think about it though, hasn't Disney always made up this girl like some kind of "mini-whore".....? There are LOADS of photos out there even tackier than this one, and done when she was even younger of her in very short skirts, made up to look like some mid-20s hooker..... Germaine Greer wrote an interesting article regarding this whole issue with Vanity Fair.... I actually believe that Disney has far more responsibility for how they've portrayed Miley than Vanity Fair or even Liebowitz herself.... At the end of the day, Disney could have easily refused Vanity Fair and Liebowitz access to their "star", they didn't, they pimped her out like a teenie-whore, just as they've always done with her....... <_< No wonder JoJo turned down "Hannah Montana".....
February 7, 200916 yr So, I take it you defend Disney pimping her out as a 15 year old to Annie Liebowitz to make her up like some slutty piece of "freshly fukked" p**** jailbait then...... yeah, cos that's real healthy and "normal" and what kids should be doing..... Oh HELL no  And tbh i've never been that respectful of teen stars (Exception JoJo. Credit is due where its due. Her voice is amazing). Especially those who have been way over manufactured into this "perfect pop" package (Miley).
February 13, 200916 yr Apparently - this is from the Sun, so it might not be true - she's being sued for £3 BILLION "on behalf of more than a million Asian Pacific Islanders living in Los Angeles county. And also  for Google adds - I don't know what it's about, but it apparently involves Chinese women.
