Yeah but there is a MASSIVE difference between constructive criticism of her and wishing death on her which you did, no one expects a Jade love-in on this forum but wishing death on her particularly in the form of cancer is a different ballpark in terms of bad taste than criticising her character and her motives

Oh completely, i'm not behind the media whoreage 100%, but people are more likely to see through the eyes of Jade Goody than Jane Tomlinson...

That's all well and good, but thanks to the "post code lottery" that exists as far as cancer treatment goes, it may actually prove to be a bit moot if, god forbid, any of these girls getting smear tests do come up positive... And this, for me, is the whole issue in a nutshell..... She COULD, very easily, be using her fame and her press attention to actually highlight this pretty dreadful fact and put it on the political agenda, embarrass a few bloody politicians to actually get up off their arses and do something, maybe even save lives..... I wouldn't take much, one measly press conference and a scathing attack on Gordy Broon and Nu Labor's appalling record on getting the right treatment to the right people..... It's not as if you have to look very hard to find the evidence.....

 

But naaaaah, she's to busy planning ludicrous weddings and making a fast buck out of the likes of OK, Hello and Heat to actually care about anyone else other than herself.....

She never SAID she wanted her death filmed! It's pretty clear if you read what she said in its context, she meant she was going to have her dying days filmed, not literally her death. The fact that so many of you are claiming people are sheeps who follow the tabloids, and yet, at the same time, blindly swallowing the spin they've put on her quote in this particular instance, is so ironic.

 

I'm far from her biggest fan, but some of the arguments you people are putting up are ridiculous, not to mention unbelievably insensitive.

 

I agree. When I first saw the quote, I thought it was obvious that DigitalSpy and other tabloid outlets were doing their usual thing of leading their readers to interpret a quote in a way that was different to what was intended. If you take the quote in isolation, it is more logical that she is talking about being filmed during the time as her health fails.

 

Even if people thought it was possible that Jade was talking about being filmed on her death bed, people should have had the gumption to consider the possibility that the other interpretation was correct before jumping on the bandwagon. When you add into the equation that Jade is well known for not being particularly articulate, considering other intepretations should be the norm before going off on one.

 

As it is, Max Clifford has said categorically that Jade's actual death would not be filmed and that it was never considered. So can we draw a line under this particular aspect of the "debate".

 

I've never much liked Jade and I do think the media storm is being encouraged by people who don't have her best interests at heart. However, I completely understand that she will want to be doing things to provide for her children. Her children go to school, so she has time during the day to do things without denying them time, unless people think they should be taken out of school, but I'm sure she'd be called selfish if she did that. I doubt her children need all this money that is being earned, but I also doubt she's as rich as people think she is.

 

The media coverage is completely over the top, but many of the people complaining about it are the ones who have been encouraging them to talk about her by claiming that she probably didn't even have cancer and it was a publicity stunt. On the DigitalSpy boards, a hardcore of members have been posting links to every article about her so they could rip them apart to find inconsistencies in order to expose the "scam". They are the truly sick ones in all of this and they have given the papers the excuse they need to keep on writing.

Why in your eyes does someone suffering from a terminal illness need to be EITHER a hero OR a villain? I don't think all this PR stuff she's been doing is courageous, and I think this whole excuse about wanting to set up her kids' lives is crap (she's worth, what, £5m?)... if nothing else, she's probably just been wanting things to do and to keep busy, something many people in her situation would be wanting to do (albeit probably not in this particular way), and I'm not going to begrudge her that. Maybe you believe it would be more "honourable" or whatever to be spending this time with her kids, and maybe you're right, but frankly, it's not really any of our business.

Did I say that....? No, I'm saying that it's far better to show a bit of dignity... Thisispop gave the example of Bobby Moore who stoically suffered in silence and never felt sorry for himself, and certainly never sought to profit from his illness.... Same for Bill Hicks, who died of Pancreatic cancer... I'd no idea of him even being ill until his tragic death in 1994, aged 34..... Again, another example of someone who just "got on with things" and didn't define himself on his fukkin' illness..... He was a hero of mine for other reasons totally unrelated to him having a terminal illness....

 

Bottom line, I've lost three of my family members to various forms of cancer over the years, so FORGIVE ME if I find the sight of someone using cancer as a PR stunt or marketing tool to make money just ever-so-slightly repellant..... <_<

Not implying anything am playing devils advocate here but is is POSSIBLE she has been exaggerating the extent of her illness for financial gain ?

 

Strange how barely a day after pocketing £1m for her wedding she seems to be undergoing a miracle recovery, if she pulled through she would make £20m+ out of her miracle so am wondering if it is possible that she has been exaggerating the extent of her cancer in order to make money although of course am not implying that

Chris Guile clung to life until he had received his award for charity work, his proud mother Pearl said.

 

As the 48-year-old travelled home from Buckingham Palace he passed away, surrounded by family members.

 

Pearl, who lived with her son in Tilbury, Essex, said: 'I think he held on especially to meet the Queen. We had an amazing day together.

'After we left the palace we went to a hotel for afternoon tea. Chris was laughing and joking, having a good time.'

 

Brave Chris spent nine years as a volunteer helper at the Greenview Day Centre in South Ockendon, caring for people with physical and learning disabilities.

He also organised fundraising events for the cancer ward at Basildon Hospital, after being so impressed by the care he received while being treated for lung cancer.

The tireless charity worker even continued to organise fundraising events from his hospital bed to buy specialist equipment for the cancer ward.

 

His mum added: 'He was a terrific person who always put others before himself. He was really selfless.'

Mr Guile suffered breathing difficulties as he returned home. Paramedics were called to the roadside but could not save him.

Kim Perry, manager of Orsett Ward at Basildon Hospital said: 'Chris was fantastic. Not only did he fundraise for us to make improvements to the ward for other patients, he was a good friend to every member of staff here.

'He will be greatly missed. Occasionally we treat a patient who can only be described as truly special. That was Chris.'

 

After his meeting with the Queen Mr Guile had said: 'Being made an MBE has touched my heart.'

Like many unsung cancer sufferers, Chris who has died with great dignity and who has done so much for charity during his illness is in stark contrast to Jane Goody whose only motivation in her situation is publicity and money. The likes of relatively unknowns such as Chris have gone about their fundraising with little or no self pity and his family should be proud of him.

 

I am all for people using their fame and "celebrity status" to enhance awareness for their causes - Sir Bobby Robson; Bobby Moore; Roy Castle; Lance Armstrong; Helen Rollason; Jane Tomlinson; etc being perfect examples - however, the likes of these foundations will help many cancer sufferers over many years, whereas Jane Goody's only motivation I'd argue as being self centred and will benefit very few except her children & ego of the repulsive Max Clifford. His digs at the father of Jade's children who would not play along with his ego driven media machine & dig at Nadine (Girls Aloud) for not flying back from LA to play the weding were unacceptable IMHO.

 

I've said it before & I'll say it again I think those of you who applaud what Jade Goody has done in the last few weeks with the media circus & all the parasites who have played along with it (especially Gordon Brown & Jack Straw. At least Tony Blair when asked for a soundbite over the weekend was mildly critical of the whole saga & lack of raising money towards cancer charities) are very wrong that it actually makes me angry to see how you cannot see the sham for what it is.

 

PS. I lost two Grand parents from Cancer & two of my Uncles have died from this disease and another is also on the way out from it.
