May 6, 200916 yr I don't care what people say, Spain will be such an epic closer  I sure as hell hope that Turkey don't go top 3, Dum Tek Tek is alright but not great tbh...Spain and Azerbaijan are far superior  I also thought you'd like Switzerland a LOT more tbh Rich! :o Let's see that one rocket up his list/chart after the semi :kink:
May 6, 200916 yr the Swiss entry is currently topping my rankings, and I'm hardly usually a rock fan...it's a very radio friendly commercial rock song, really excellent, although it took me about 100 listens to come to this conclusion judging by its ridiculously slow climb up my personal chart  I certainly didn't love it as much on first listen... I still think that with a bit less European bias from UK record companies, The Highest Heights and Swedish act Mando Diao's Dance With Somebody could be the two 'big' radio rock hits of the summer here :o

May 6, 200916 yr The Highest Heights is absolutely fantastic...the riff, THE RIFF  It would so easily do a 'Human' if The Killers covered it...

May 6, 200916 yr Belgium only edge into tolerable as I can actually listen to it without getting an overpowering urge to tear my ears off, as the five below do :( And La Voix is absolutely FANTASTIC  Hope & Glory is just a poor man's (pun half-intended :kink:) Hero. The key change makes La Voix for me! Sweden, Norway and Spain (and Switzerland to a degree) give me goosepimples from imagining the crowd reaction on the night!

The key change makes La Voix for me! Sweden, Norway and Spain (and Switzerland to a degree) give me goosepimples from imagining the crowd reaction on the night! the crowd reactions are always interesting at ESC, who do you reckon they'll boo this year? there is no novelty as such like Dustin or Pirates Of The Sea...Dima got big boos last year too  in Melodifestivalen the big crowd reactions weren't reserved for the best songs but rather the biggest acts, E.M.D. got by far the biggest cheer, mainly from young girls in the audience, but the ESC audience is more filled with ESC fans whereas the MF audience was basically just about anyone and everyone
May 6, 200916 yr I think I'm about the only person on Buzzjack who doesn't think much of "Fairytale". It was good to start with but his voice isn't that good and the actual song is something you could only really listen to in a Eurovision context. It's so cheesy sounding that I couldn't imagine liking it 6 months on. Norway should have gone for Tone Damli Aaberge and "Butterflies". I still haven't listened to them all. I want the actual album to leak. My favourites so far are the UK, Iceland and Turkey.
May 6, 200916 yr The actual album has leaked Aaron! :P Check torrentz.com...and Fairytale does grate after a while but it's still quite fantastic :o And Russia could possibly get booed, along with maybe Greece...I do sincerely hope all the schlock-rock gets booed to death along with Latvia :heehee:

Butterflies is a lot more cheesy than Fairytale I think, I absolutely love it and they were both former No.1's in my personal chart but the lyrics 'time to wake up, don't know what to wear, do my make-up, then I brush my hair' are on par with Maria's hilariously awful lyrics from last year  Tone's song is very 'Disney' infact, I can imagine one of the Miley's/Demi's or whoever else's doing a cover of it the album has leaked Aaron, I'll PM you a link :o
May 6, 200916 yr I've actually fallen in SEVERE LOFF with Bistra Voda. WOO FOR THE EAST ACTUALLY BEING GOOD AFTER ALL.
May 6, 200916 yr The actual album has leaked Aaron! :P Check torrentz.com...and Fairytale does grate after a while but it's still quite fantastic :o Oh, I saw a download link for it the other day, but some of the tracks were over 3 minutes long so I didn't trust it. I guess it was right anyway. I can't quite get back into "Fairytale" on first listen I thought it sounded good, but when I put it on iTunes I decided that it was just really average. I can't believe this is the track everyone's raving about. I certainly hope there are some good tracks I am yet to hear. Most of the ones people have been raving about (Norway, Sweden, Ukraine) disappointed me and my three favourites aren't quite on par with Kalomoira, Maria, Ani or Sirusho of last year. :(
May 6, 200916 yr I've actually fallen in SEVERE LOFF with Bistra Voda. WOO FOR THE EAST ACTUALLY BEING GOOD AFTER ALL. they do have some good songs once again, I'll give them that, I just don't want them completely dominating the top ten again because by no means are their more than 5 Eastern songs that actually deserve to be top ten this year Maria was flying the flag for the west all alone last year

I just find the "Years ago, when I was younger, I kinda liked a girl I knew" line and the chorus really cringey. I'm not keen on his vocals, there's just a quality of his voice that irritates me. The music isn't quite as contemporary as "Butterflies" either. I know that's intentional but it's not so good when you listen back in 6 months time and think "wow, that really was a Eurovision only song" which I don't think will happen with "Butterflies".
May 7, 200916 yr Downloaded the album and I'm listening to most of the songs for the first time, I shall post my thoughts tomorrow once I've listened a bit more.

May 7, 200916 yr Belgium: Patrick Ouchene - Copycat: Oh dear, oh dear. A dire Elvis impersonator does his worst Tom Jones meets Adam Ant impression over a Jive Bunny backing track. Hopeless. 1 you're bang on here Rich, I kept thinking 'what on earth does this utter $hite remind me of', now I know; Jive Bunny :puke2: it's like the sort of song that would have been a UK xmas No.1 in the late 80's
