May 7, 200916 yr going off on another tangent, I like the verses/structre in Israel's song but I'm not over enthused about the chorus...it rarely happens for me that I prefer a verse to a chorus S Club's Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You had a brilliant verse and bridge but the chorus was an utter letdown and ruined the whole song...I don't think this Israel song quite suffers that same fate but it could have been a lot better
May 7, 200916 yr Author I actually prefer a verse to a chorus too :o The song is sung in 3 languages :o Arabic, Hebrew (although they sound same) and English (only 5 words overally :heehee: ). It's so Boaz! All the songs that have been presented in the Israeli NF last year are named in english but sung in Hebrew :o Is it some kind of a trick? :kink:
May 8, 200916 yr Just listening to them all in alphabetical order now, I'm at France. I haven't been paying too much attention but I think Albania to Azerbaijan were all nice tracks, if a little bit typical or Eurovision. Cyprus was the only one I really liked from Belarus to Czech Republic, some were AWFUL, others were just not my cup of tea. Denmark was actually not so bad for a Ronan song and sound-a-like. Estonia and France aren't so bad, but it's hard to get past the language barrier. My favourite so far is Finland, it's very Steps, but quite good at the same time.

Latvia (42) the week before the contest :drama: some big changes here due to the CD...Ukraine (:drama:), Portugal and Armenia shoot into the top ten whilst some countries are demoted from 'excellent' status as I begin to get bored of them...Belgium, Russia and FYR Macedonia joiin the 'atrocious' section because they quite frankly are, watch most of those 9 monstrosities make the final :nocheer: Switzerland stay at No.1 whilst Sweden are back up to No.2!!!
May 8, 200916 yr My top ten right now (excluding Ireland): 1. Estonia 2. Armenia 3. Malta 4. Finland 5. Sweden 6. Slovenia 7. Albania 8. Spain 9. Germany (not sure why I like this but it's catchy in a cringy sort of way :P ) 10. Portugal
May 9, 200916 yr I've heard every entry now, so here are my rankings: Excellent 1. United Kingdom 2. Ireland 3. Iceland 4. Turkey 5. Finland 6. Cyprus Very Good 7. Azerbaijan 8. Armenia 9. Andorra 10. Greece 11. Malta Good 12. Albania 13. Denmark 14. Montenegro 15. Ukraine 16. Romania 17. Poland Average 18. Sweden 19. Spain 20. Norway 21. Hungary 22. Slovenia 23. Bulgaria 24. Slovakia 37. FYR Macedonia 38. Croatia 39. Latvia 40. Belgium 41. Serbia 42. Czech Republic I think I used 'excellent' a little loosely but it's meant to give you an idea, I like the top 6 more than the rest. The UK are at the top but I reckon Ireland could catch up in a bit, I really like it. Quite Kelly Clarkson-ish. Odd how they went from one of my least favourite entries last year to almost my favourite this year. Czech Republic suffer a similar fate, "Have Some Fun" was one of my favourites last year but this entry is terrible. :(
May 9, 200916 yr OMG I loved Have Some Fun too! I thought I was the only one! Must admit I preferred the first version from the video. The final contest version was a bit OTT :kink:
May 9, 200916 yr OMG I loved Have Some Fun too! I thought I was the only one! Must admit I preferred the first version from the video. The final contest version was a bit OTT :kink: Just like the sun goes with the sunshine. Like a grape goes with a grapevine. It was probably my favourite behind Greece and Norway. I really thought it should have made the final but I agree that the final version wasn't as good, it was a bit OTT and she was a bit flat. :(
May 9, 200916 yr Czech Republic's entry last year  It was a shame they had to f*** it all up with that twat of a DJ on the night :( It's quite gratifying to see that casual viewers are in general agreement on what entries are awful this year as well! ^_^
May 9, 200916 yr ok,so i havent been following any of this and today is my 1st time listening to any songs...which will be the case for most people watching. So this is the opinion of a person who heard the songs just for the 1st time.. 1. Switzerland- awesome!! Love this so much! 2. Norway- very catchy, love the violin 3. Iceland- beautiful song. 4. Portugal- made me smile!! 5.. Spain- Nice to see them taking it a bit more seriously 6. Ireland- usually hate our own entries but this is not bad for the record, UK is very boring so i dont get the hype. Malta seems highly rated too but it sounds like a Disney song to me. Turkey...havent i seen you somewhere before? Latvia and belgium are sickening. id like to see France do well...they shouldve won last year. Sweden is bizzare. Finland is utterly disappointing, generic dance song. And ukraine is WAY overhyped too, i write better songs than this. Id love to enter for ireland but my band hate eurovision!! :-S Edited May 9, 200916 yr by dk-cork
May 9, 200916 yr Czech Republic's entry last year  It was a shame they had to f*** it all up with that twat of a DJ on the night :( It's quite gratifying to see that casual viewers are in general agreement on what entries are awful this year as well! ^_^ apart from Switzerland at #33 in Aaron's chart :snif: seeing it in groups with all of the horrendous entries makes me sad :heehee:
May 9, 200916 yr Author Teresa was atrocious last year :heehee: I know that Damon's favourite entry last year was Czech Republic too, Tom! :o And not surprised at your likage, Aaron :heehee:
May 9, 200916 yr apart from Switzerland at #33 in Aaron's chart :snif: seeing it in groups with all of the horrendous entries makes me sad :heehee: Maybe I missed something with it? It seemed like another rubbishy rock entry to me. Totally not my thing. :( I'm surprised you like it actually, maybe it deserves another chance. And not surprised at your likage, Aaron :heehee: Me neither, it's mostly the English songs, as predicted. I seem to be a sucker for ballads and songs that sound like Hadise/Kalomoira/Javine etc. this year. I noticed that countries beginning with A had good entries and those beginning with B with either average or bad. :heehee:
May 9, 200916 yr ^ they floped 2 years in a row, and now they are trying to send sth "funny" the only points they got last year in the semi I belive were from Macedonia  I loved Teresa
