Arguably the best rock guitarist of his generation who has built up an impressive body of blues influenced work.

Are any of you fans of "God" or do you think EC's Adult Orientated Rock is too boring for your liking?

I liked the Yardbirds and Cream, but the only Eric Clapton solo stuff I rate is "Layla" and " I shot the sheriff", hated all his other slow sentimental stuff.

pretty much in line with brian, although his yardbird era was over before they got much chart success. HATED i shot the sherrif though.

think clapton demonstrates clearly the 'getting old and boring' effect.

To me he is another Rod Stewart, brilliant early stuff but got progressively crap from the late 70's onwards

Loved Clapton's early stuff with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream and Derek and The Dominoes but the solo stuff it would need 1 hand to count the number of songs have liked since the 461 Ocean Boulevard album with the exception of his recent collaboration with JJ Cale
