Posted March 16, 200619 yr Craig dubbed 'best Bond ever' British star Daniel Craig has been praised as the "best-ever" James Bond actor by Martin Campbell, the director of the recent 007 blockbuster 'Casino Royale'. Craig has come under heavy fire from alleged Bond fans, who claim his appointment as the new superspy indicated Bond producers were completely out of touch with the viewing public. However, several stars, including former Bond actor Roger Moore, have come out in support of Craig, urging fans to reserve judgment until 'Casino Royale' is released. According to Campbell, who may well be intentionally marketing his own film, the 38-year-old 'Munich' star outshines all of his 007 predecessors in Moore, Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan. Campbell, who also directed Brosnan in 'Goldeneye', said: "I am convinced that Craig is the best actor who has ever played James Bond. "We show that Bond will suffer from emotional and physical pain. Honestly, we couldn't do that with Pierce." He added the film will have "fist fights" instead of computer trickery. =================================================================== hmm... Me think different, to be honest I can see this film falling on its arse big time, I don't think Daniel Craig was the right choice for the bond image, personally he will be a one hit wonder, just like George Lazenby.

I doubt it will flop. It will no doubt be one of the biggest hits of the year.

Have to disagree Mikey, Craig is exactly the right choice, he'll bring the more threatening, harder edge prescence that Connery and Dalton (severly under-rated as a Bond IMO..)brought to the role that was sorely lacking in the likes of Moore and Brosnan; Moore was frankly a prancing dandy and Brosnan was merely adequate. Comparing Craig to Lazenby is frankly silly, for a start Craig can actually act, whereas Lazenby was more wooden than the Brazilian Rain Forest.... Bond needs to get its edge back, that would NOT have been brought in by having someone like Jude Law (a pretty boy and not much else, let's face it....) play the role. The Bourne films have rendered Bond rather redundant for the past five years or so, the franchise seriously needs a good kick up the arse, the past two or three Bond films have been rather poor; going back to the source - Ian Fleming's books - and getting in a Bond with a darker edge will hopefully provide this....
March 16, 200619 yr Like Grimly Fiendish said I think Craig will be come a unique bond as they'll portay him as a much darker bond than all the others which could work but it could also back fire on the director.

I doubt it, Martin Campbell is no fool, he's a smart operator and very good director, he directed Brosnan's first (and best IMO) bond film "Goldeneye", so I'm quietly confident that "Casino Royale" will be the best Bond film in quite some considerable time.....
March 16, 200619 yr ...Mind you, it has to be said, if someone ever resurrected the Harry Palmer books into film form, surely Daniel Craig would be an utter shoe-in for that role as well.....
March 16, 200619 yr Dalton was the best Bond by a long shot. Moore was by far the worst. Brosnan was OK, but the The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day were rubbish films.
March 16, 200619 yr Dalton was the best Bond by a long shot. Moore was by far the worst. Brosnan was OK, but the The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day were rubbish films. I liked Dalton, I'd rate him as the second best Bond; I'm Scottish so It's kinda hard-wired into my genetic coding to acknowledge that Sean Connery IS the daddy......
March 17, 200619 yr Bond suffering physical and emotional pain? Either a great movie, or its going to be another George Lazenby (who wasn't the worst Bond, but time tells otherwise).
March 18, 200619 yr I've never really warmed to the idea of Daniel Craig being Bond but I saw some footage somewhere the other day and he certainly looks the part. The thing is, will people go to see it in the first place?
March 18, 200619 yr I dont envy Craig fulfilling a better Bond than Connery. Edited March 18, 200619 yr by Ronaldinho
March 19, 200619 yr Dalton was the best Bond by a long shot. Moore was by far the worst. Brosnan was OK, but the The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day were rubbish films. I loved The World Is Not Enough, and Electra King made one of the best bond girls ever, if not THE best bond girl. Agreed on Die Another Day though, can't say I was keen on that at all... And I'll wait and see about this new bond.
March 20, 200619 yr Bond suffering physical and emotional pain? Either a great movie, or its going to be another George Lazenby (who wasn't the worst Bond, but time tells otherwise). Lazenby was horrendous, couldn't act to save his life. His whole method of expressing emotional pain was laughable.... But what made him really intolerable was the fact that On Her Majesty's Secret Service was otherwise A BLOODY GOOD FILM, in terms of the story and the scripting, it was first rate, and the support cast were excellent (especially Diana Rigg..); it failed because of Lazenby's horrendously wooden 'acting' which made a very good film look bad... Unforgivable in my opinion.... I'd personally love to see them re-do OHMSS after "Casino Royale".....
March 23, 200619 yr George Lazenby was good. He should have had more time. I will reserve judgement on Daniel Craig until I see the film, but I think he's going to be good.
March 24, 200619 yr George Lazenby was good. He should have had more time. Were we watching the same film mate?  Because I saw a bloody good film that was seriously let down by a fukkin' awful actor... Lazenby was the one playing Bond, yeah.....?
March 24, 200619 yr We'll only know when the films been made, the best bond is Moore then Conery, although everyone has been good apart from George Lazenby.
April 3, 200619 yr I'll pass judgement when I've seen it. I always found it hard to accept Roger Moore as he was always the Saint to me, Brosnan wasn't bad....I would have been happy for him to continue.
April 3, 200619 yr I'll reserve judgment. Surely it's the mass worldwide cinema audiences who will decide whether Craig is the best Bond ever not someone so close to the project.
April 5, 200619 yr For me Roger Moore was James Bond. Pierce Brosnan 2nd. I liked a little bit of humour thrown in, it makes for an enjoyable film. I'm not too keen on overly serious takes on Bond. Wasn't it David Niven who played (well this confuses me, I assume it's Bond, but no one ever seems to mention David Niven's name with Bond) in the original Casino Royale. Haven't seen this film myself though. Well, is this a re-make? Edited April 5, 200619 yr by Sound-Bite
