[Friday 30, November 2007] Promoters of My Chemical Romance promised that their return to Australia this year would be one of the biggest arena spectaculars for the year – this was exactly the case when this high-energy band hit the stage at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. Emotions ran high before the show with an ecstatic feel amongst the plethora of fans waiting to see ‘their’ band once again and shortly upon entering the venue the crowd were treated to an opening set which was truly energetic and passionate and an introduction of the excellent stage effects included flame throwers, pyrotechnics and industrial-sized sparklers – an extraordinary light show that made even the most stable audience slightly epileptic. Amidst several intense clapping sprees, frontman Gerard Way exploded through the epic show that was to follow – he clearly enjoyed the performance with several spates of dancing, joking and general crowd interactions which make it obvious why such a highly controversial character is loved so much by his fanbase. The band continued their explosive set with tunes including their latest Teenagers, Famous Last Words, I’m Not OK, Ghost Of You, I Don’t Love You and of course Welcome To The Black Parade.
