Posted February 15, 200916 yr I just got an email with all the winners for the What's On Stage 2009 Awards. Before everyone gets too excited, Darius didn't win the SEE TICKETS Best Actor in A Musical category.... <_< BUT . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . he DID come second!!!!! A highly respectable position I reckon, so well done Darius :w00t: :yahoo: :cheer: - a shame to just miss out on the award but still something to be very proud of given the determination of the press to ruin a superb show.
February 15, 200916 yr If it was still running, he'd have won. A brilliant show and a good position for Darius. Thanks Sharon. Just looked again - I think that the people other than the winner are in alphabetical order. Edited February 15, 200916 yr by megham
February 16, 200916 yr I got the impression he was fourth. Yes, I'm afraid so!! :( Ryan Molloy Douglas Hodge Matt Rawle and then Darius with 14.3%. Matt Rawle only got 15.6%, so considering GWTW finished back last June, I still don't think it was a bad result! At least there won't be any 'back-biting' about him being too highly placed!!! :) Julie
February 16, 200916 yr Author Oops! Sorry folks. It's a very misleading email then as the contenders placed 2nd - 6th aren't shown in alphabetical order (my email shows Rolan Bell in at the bottom of the list). Initially I too thought they were but when I checked all the categories saw that they weren't. . . Actually....I've just noticed they ARE in alphabetical order if you use their first name - I was using the surname! I'm such a dope!!!! Sorry again folks!
February 16, 200916 yr It's fantastic that Darius has been nominated twice, in different categories, for these awards. I think he did really well, considering that far fewer people could have seen him in his role, compared with the others in theirs. I'm not at all surprised Ryan Molloy won. I should think everyone in the country has seen Ryan Molloy on some TV show or other doing his Frankie Valli and Jersey Boys has been running in the West End non-stop since February 2008. Douglas Hodge has starred in a lot of West End shows and is a well known actor with many admirers. Zorro toured the country before the West End and Matt Rawle is a highly experienced MT performer. I wouldn't expect Darius to come over for the Olivier Awards this year. Being 'seen' and mingling is fine for those who like a good party and don't live halfway across the world.
February 16, 200916 yr I completly agee,it was Fantastic enough that Darius got nominated in the 1st place, and considering not lots of people never gotthe chance to see him perform in GWTW he did do very well!
February 16, 200916 yr I think he did realy well, lovely to jsut see his name on that list as it is and I know WOS were pushing for Jersey boys in their "unbiased" pleas to vote!!!!
