July 2, 200915 yr Author She's pure R&B  I'd like her moving back if possible. The track was demod by R Kelly and she's been working with Akon, Claude Kelly, Stargate - all R&B acts :heehee:
July 2, 200915 yr I didnt bother watching the video. Apart from low quality its apparently a remix. I wanna hear original song first!
July 2, 200915 yr I can see Whitney not having great single sucess but the album could do fairly well, something like celine dion's taking chgances album, the singles didnt do much but the album sold reasonably well
July 2, 200915 yr Author I certainly don't expect it to be a big comeback. I predict that the project will be handled really badly. I don't think they have any clue who they're marketing her towards. Ideally, like you say, the Celine Dion market, but that's a hard one to nail. Celine Dion didn't lose half her fanbase and have a catastrophic breakdown simultaeneously.
July 2, 200915 yr Whitney needs a a strong feel good track to get her career back on track. If we get a slow, soulful ballad she'll certainly give the illusion that she still thinks that this is the 1990's. Something like "How Will I Know" would be excellent
July 2, 200915 yr Well the promotional campaign is going to be big...Just announced: Whitney Houston has officially announced her first mini concert in September. The legendary singer made the announcement this morning on Good Morning America, where the concert will take place. Whitney will perform her first televised gig in years as she undergoes a huge promotional blitz to plug her new album ‘I Look To You’. The project will be preceded by lead single ‘I Didn’t Know My Strength’. The song is said to be a big powerballad penned by the legendary songwriter Diane Warren and produced by famed hitmaker David Foster. July 2, 200915 yr Author It's crap! SO generic. Typical inspirational lyrics. I could come up with better in my sleep... this ain't a hit.
July 2, 200915 yr See how many more replies it's had in such a short space of time in here Jark? :P I hear what you're saying, but she's an artist that could be in either, most of her previous material (and this single actually) are not R&B, they're pop and it'll get more attention here so here is where it's staying. Hmmm, thus far I agree with Jark, I wouldn't say it was crap but certainly not a lead single... Maybe a grower? Come on Whitney, please be big. :( I was actually expecting some stellar notes at the end (a la most Mariah tracks, a bit slow but gradually building to a big finish), but alas it never came. :(
July 2, 200915 yr Author I sort of get you Kelly but there'll never be any traffic in R&B if the potentially big threads are shipped into Pop on the grounds that nobody will read them in there :heehee: Anyway: mgzVInACQiE
July 2, 200915 yr Hmmm, thus far I agree with Jark, I wouldn't say it was crap but certainly not a lead single... Maybe a grower? Come on Whitney, please be big. :( I was actually expecting some stellar notes at the end (a la most Mariah tracks, a bit slow but gradually building to a big finish), but alas it never came. :( Totally agree. I like the song as a song but yes as a lead, comeback single its p*** poor. Like you said, there was the wait for the huge climax at the end but it failed.
July 2, 200915 yr Oh no don't mistake me, it's not dead by any means. Loads of threads are successful, if you're Keri Hilson, Ciara or Cassie. :P Just that Whitney thread I made a while ago had sat there with very little interest even as quite big news was pouring out very few people seemed to care, or judging by the comments it seemed that way, it's already got a lot more attention in here. ^_^
July 2, 200915 yr Oh no, so disappointing! :( It's certainly no "Didn't We Almost Have It All" or "I Have Nothing". Far too subtle for a comeback, she would have been better of with "Like I Never Left" even.
July 2, 200915 yr Isn't she about 50 though? i doubt its very likely that she'd still be able to hit the same high notes. The song is alright, sounds a bit like an X Factor/Idol winners single but lacks the ooomph, expect a big final chorus but it never comes.
July 2, 200915 yr I heard this might not be the lead single. If it is, man, this era is going to fail badly. After all of this waiting, if this is the "big" comeback single, it's very lame. This sounds like it was recorded back in the early 90's.
July 3, 200915 yr Well the official site confirms the album and it's release date but not the single fortunately enough. I live in hope. :( Please just be an iTunes bonus! :heehee: Plus on the video from the GMA set, they're talking as if it's the biggest thing ever for her to be performing. Hell, even I could perform that!
