February 17, 200916 yr I swore Dannii came out in the early 90's and Kylie in the late 80's? I could be wrong though. And it's not like I care about this at all lawlz. I think all the judges / The X-Factor in general are a bit $h!t. As a recording artist, yes, but Dannii used to be big in Australia on something called Young Talent Time, before Kylie joined Neighbours.
February 17, 200916 yr As a recording artist, yes, but Dannii used to be big in Australia on something called Young Talent Time, before Kylie joined Neighbours. They were both in The Sullivans though (the same character) even before that - but Kylie got there first I think. If you check out them both on IMDb - I'm pretty certain Kylie's involvement with showbiz in general was before Dannii's. Norma
February 17, 200916 yr I can assure you, Dannii became a household name before Kylie. Both did the soaps Skyways and The Sullivans but it was Dannii who became very well-known thanks to Young Talent Time in 1981. It wasn't until some 5 years later that Kylie joined Neighbours. Obviously after they launched recording careers in 1988 (Kylie) and '89 (Dannii), Kylie became the global name.
February 17, 200916 yr Yeah its been said many times that Dannii rose to fame first but Kylie had the bigger impact.
February 18, 200916 yr Norma I have to totally disagree with what you said, Dannii has probably said more in one single week that is constructive and relevant criticism than Sharon did in her four years on the show. Dannii, for me, is easily the best mentor and the most relevant judge on the team, ever. And this is from someone who RUED the decision to hire her because he literally (not sure why) DESPISED her beforehand!
February 18, 200916 yr I phrased that wrong. Clearly not the most relevant judge in terms of experience and right to comment, but says the most relevant things. Simon is now just catchphrases.

I'm not having a go at Dannii specifically here - they're all the same. The only thing I come away with is all these sound-bites - 'you owned the stage', 'you've got star quality written all over you', 'you've proved you deserve to be in this final'. It really is all just talk ... from all of them. Norma
February 18, 200916 yr For all those who think Kylie was famous before Dannii think again: Dannii Minogue began her career as a child on Australian television. From the age of seven, she had appeared in several soap operas, including Skyways and The Sullivans. In 1981, she joined the successful weekly music programme Young Talent Time. Minogue recorded her first solo recordings for the programme, including a cover version of Madonna's hit single "Material Girl"; during this time, she also performed live at several sold-out nationwide concert tours. In 1988, Minogue departed from Young Talent Time to continue her acting career, appearing as the rebellious tomboyish teenager Emma Jackson on the soap opera Home and Away. Minogue remained on the programme for only a year, but proved to be popular among Australian audiences when she was nominated for a "Silver Logie" for the country's "Most Popular Actress on Australian television". In September 1988, Minogue released her own fashion range entitled Dannii. She became interested in fashion design while appearing on Young Talent Time. Minogue had designed the clothing she had worn on the show, and the positive response from the audience resulted in her releasing her one line. Minogue's debut line Dannii sold out across Australia in ten days, and was followed by three additional summer lines in 1989. Compared to Kylie: Raised in the inner Melbourne suburb of Surrey Hills, the Minogue sisters began their careers as children on Australian television, and from the age of twelve, Kylie followed her younger sister with appearances in small roles in soap operas such as The Sullivans and Skyways, before being cast in one of the lead roles in The Henderson Kids. She gave her first singing performance in 1983, on the weekly music programme Young Talent Time which featured Dannii as a regular performer. Dannii's success in this program overshadowed Kylie's acting achievements, until Kylie was cast in the soap opera Neighbours in 1986.....
February 18, 200916 yr But which of the sisters came to international recognition first? This is a question by the way, not a sarky remark! I never followed Neighbours in the early days when it seemed the UK went gaga for it - and to this day I'm happy to say that apart from a few episodes (after Kylie had left) I've never seen much of it. I actually watched H&A more and thought Dannii's performance as Emma in that soap was quite good. I never followed Kylie's music career during her stay at the SAW Institute for the Perpetually Useless so I've no idea how popular she was then (apart from with 10-year olds like my niece at the time). I've only really become aware of Kylie this time round and Dannii through the X-Factor. Norma
February 18, 200916 yr She definatly says a lot more relevant things than Cheryl for example and is also actually able to criticize someone..
February 18, 200916 yr Dannii >>>>>>>>>>>>> The world. Sharon would be nowhere without her husband. Sharon made Ozzy famous, she was his manager.
February 18, 200916 yr Sharon made Ozzy famous, she was his manager. That's a bit like saying Yoko Ono made John Lennon famous. The seminal Rock band regarded second to Led Zeppelin in the early 1970s for heavy rock or proto metal Black Sabbath are what made Ozzy Osbourne famous and very wealthy. They were managed by Sharon Osbourne's dad Don Arden (who also managed Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Small Faces & Electric Light Orchestra) who was responsible for helping making them famous. Sharon only became his manager after Ozzy (the lead singer of Black Sabbath) left the group in 1979.
February 18, 200916 yr Oh, okay! But Sharon knows talent, Dannii and Cheryl feel like they have to put everyone through because everyone else says so, or they feel intimidated!
