Posted February 19, 200916 yr Celine Makes a Five-Year Commitment to the People of Soweto February 19 , 2009 During her tour stop in South Africa last year, Celine took the time to visit village settlements and sing for groups of children of Soweto, a poor neighborhood of Johannesburg. She also promised the children and families living in poverty in Soweto that she would make a donation of R300,000 per year for five years to the African Children's Feeding Scheme. Celine and her husband, René, were deeply saddened to see the level of poverty affecting families in Soweto, so they immediately committed to support the African Feeding Scheme by donating funds from the Celine Dion Foundation. A touching video of Celine singing for the Soweto children can be found in the In Her Own Words section inside TeamCeline. SOURCE
