Posted February 24, 200916 yr Knowing how we've all been looking forward to this thought it deserved a new thread. :yahoo: Thanks to willsdoc. The South Bank Show: Will Young From backstage at TV shows such as The X Factor, Top Gear and Question Time, to filming access-all-areas at the launch gig for his latest album in London, The South Bank Show gives a unique insight into the world of Will Young. It’s an intensely personal and intimate journey through the working life of the chart star, who was the first musician to emerge from the wave of reality talent shows that has revolutionised the music industry in Britain. Since winning Pop Idol in 2002, Will has broken out of the mould of manufactured pop star and gone on to become a multi-million selling singer songwriter and a respected live performer. With exclusive and intimate access to Will’s life and work, Matt Cain’s self-shot South Bank Show documentary follows the artist as he promotes his latest album Let It Go, rehearses for a sell-out theatre tour of the UK, and prepares to celebrate his 30th birthday. The programme also hits the road with the star, following him on tour to Newcastle, Manchester and Brighton, and filming the gig at London’s Camden Roundhouse. Whilst on tour, director Matt Cain takes Young to the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester to talk about his recent performance there, acting in Noel Coward's play The Vortex. When the tour arrives in Brighton, Will takes The South Bank Show to his holiday home in the city. Other highlights of the film include footage shot in Iceland on the set of Will’s latest video for the single Let It Go, and an exclusive look at his recent appearance at the Oxford Union. March 3, 200916 yr I think I might have to visit Fran that day to watch it (if she's watching it) and stay over (if she'll let me). This programme is the first one I really really really don't want to miss since I gave up my television. I think it will be really interesting, but will leave us yearning for more music, which is not so good for us  but potentially good for the general public. ;) I really hope it gets good ratings.
March 12, 200916 yr Author From Total Tv Guide. Thanks to mini Willfans mum. Will Power In an exclusive interview.pop idol winner Will Young talks about rising above his reality-TV roots- and his shock at being profiled by the arts series. Many reality-tv pop stars descend into obsurity quicker than you can say steve Brookstein, but Will Young has surpassed all expetations sincw winning pop idol- the forerunner to the x factor-2002. Thia year alone has seen him nominated for a second brit(he won back in 2003 as best break through act)and received much praise for his latest album Let It Go, But despite his sucesse, he was suprised when the south Bank Show asked him to be the subject of a profile. "first i thought they'd got the wrong person" he says "and then i thought there must have been a list, and other people were saying no. But once i got round that, i was really chuffed". So what does he make of the final programme? " i'm pleased with the results but i was nervous watchingit. I thought what happens if i suddenly see a side of me that i don't like? I was actually suprised at some of the things i said," he continues "i welled up watching a few bits" Will recently turned 30 and in the programme, explains why he's in a new more relaxed phase of his life. "i think its just getting older " he says " when my career started, i was just so busy. But things have quietened down in a nice way and on purpose." Apart from showing him rehearsing for a tour and shooting a video, The South Bank Show includes Will's reflections on many topics, such as his decision to tell the press he's gay. The programme also features footage of Will, who is himself a politics graduate, addressing the Oxford Union and appearing on Question time. "it was great" he says " i was star-struck sitting next to David Dimbleby. He's a legend" Having a variety in his career is something Will has always been keen on "i definately made decisions on a five year, rather than a six-month plan," he reveals. "There were some crucial decisions, like finding the right producer for the second album" Away from the spotlight, he is hugely proud of his twin brother Rupert, overcoming his mental-health problems. " He was an alcoholic and a depressive," says Will, who also has an elder sister, Emma."but now he's started a charity thats going amazingly well its called The Mood Foundation. I'm a trusteee, and its there to help people with depression. Actually they kept it out of the show, but i was asked what was the best thing about the last seven years? and i said." my brother getting better. There is a big picture one we have seen before around the album launch the one in the dark suit plus small pictures 1.Will just after he won pop idol with the caption " i was feeling complete suprise, delight and a little bit of fear" 2. 2005- performing with James Brown at live 8 in Edinurgh ( i think its actually in the mall) " one of the highlights of my life. He was just a wonderful, amazing man." 3. 2008- playing Glastonbury " I was just so pleased to be there. I'd say it was one of my best gigs 4. 2005 Starring in the film Mrs Henderson Presents " My favourite thing was when my grandmother came on set and met Judi Dench"And from Bumbling.
