Despite not winning any gongs and quite blatantly miming, Take That still managed to provide one of the biggest 'wow' moments at this week's Brits. Donning sexy specs and zooming into the crowd aboard a spaceship hanging from the rafters, their performance was roughly 500 times as exciting as one of Duffy's acceptance speeches. What's more, this light-show spectacular came just as people were starting to question if Gary Barlow had been listening to too much Snow Patrol - yet another case of the comeback champs side-stepping expectations.

'Up All Night' pulls a similar trick, reminding casual fans that there's more to the manband than mammoth ballads. Mark Owen, now firmly characterised as 'the cheeky one', takes the lead on this Beatles-esque pop ditty. "I met this girl last night and she said, 'Why won't you marry me?" he sings over parping tubas and finger-clicking rhythms. "Well I'm too young for that, too dumb for that, too tired for that, too proud for that, too cool for that... Would you like to come back to my flat?" This isn't quite as good as 'Shine', but it's got enough charm and pop smarts to keep the TT bandwagon rolling on merrily.

I love this track but in every review of it there seems to be the assumption that Gary still writes all the songs and yet Mark is clearly the main influence here and on The Circus in general. The band has even said that Mark was in charge for this album and Gary still gets most of the credit. If anyone had actually listened to Mark's solo work they would know what he sounds like!

This is not the best song they have done but is still quite catchy. Another top ten hit but not liking the video that much. Does sound a lot like shine

What an awful song. This is the worst TT song ever and music video is even worse. Gary Barlow just stick to lead vocals. Mark Owen voice is rubbish. but probably break into the top ten though.

We've got a busy week of new releases coming up and there's more than one worthy contender for our B-side of the Week title. To make the most of the situation, we're sneakily going to squeeze in two - starting with a very special exclusive from Take That's new single 'Up All Night'.

Since making their comeback in 2006, Take That have been fairly unstoppable, scoring the fastest-selling UK tour in history and the fastest-selling album of the millennium. Gary Barlow and Mark Owen tend to take centre-stage on their singles, but a listen to their new B-side might lead to calls for Jason to grab the mic a bit more often.

In much the same vein as 'Shine' and 'Up All Night', '84' is an perky, upbeat offering that's essentially Jason Orange's nostalgic ode to his youth. Taking lead vocals on the ska-infused verses, Jason recalls his first sexual experience - "heaven knows it was like a heart attack" - with a pretty girl with flowers in her hair. Fast-forward 24 years and Jason informs us he's single, living in London and there are "10,000 troops out fighting in Iraq". He also lets us know he's on the lookout for someone special to bring him a nice cuppa in the morning - any takers?

The result is charming, uplifting and offers yet more evidence as to why Take That are the biggest group in the country at the moment. The full version is available on the 'Up All Night' CD single, out March 2,

I think I've already put that first bit in the UAN thread (did you get it from Digital Spy). I'm taking it the odd things in the middle are viewer comments and then the review of 84 is back to Digital Spy again.

I agree with the person who made the Mark comment ... UAN is definitely a Mark inspired tune (although maybe Gary did a bit of fine-tuning on most songs) you can tell this is a Mark song - and a bloody good one it is too. It annoys me that they keep referring to Gary as writing all the songs. You can tell which ones Gary created (or at the very, very least had most input on) - RTW, Patience, IWFL - while Hello, UAN, Shine - were definitely Mark creations.

ya i got them on dgital spy i thought it would be nice to have others peoples comments for us to comment on....ya u can definitly tell up all night is a mrk song, mark and gary have very differnt music styles which their solo material clearly deomonstrated,,,i suppose gary is widely known as a song writer and its just assumed by many that he writes all take that;s songs, gary's song are usally ballads while mark now seems to go for a mor elively or rocky number

I don't like they keep referring to Gary as the main song writer because not only is it misleading, but it also means that if anything goes wrong then he gets all the blame too!

They said it from the beginning of being reunited that this time it was all of them in it together so as far as I'm concerned they can share the compliments and insults, depending on what people have to say.

for some people they just cant get past what take that were and that gary used to write all the songs which definitly isnt the case and likewise mark is a great song writer(not as good as gary in my opwn opinion) but none the less he has wrote some great songs and some of marks solo material and likwwise garys are so undervalued and under appreciated
