I hope this is the right forum for this, i'm desperate to find out who the artist is, i think it is early 70's

Its a Top Of The Pops clip of a young man sat at a piano singing these lyrics

Everybody else has got a hand to hold at night

Everybody else has got someone to hold them tight

Everybody else has a got a love to call their own

Everybody but me, everybody but me

Staying here just waste my time

So alone its such a crime

I guess i'll drive to town

And maybe hang around

And maybe spend my last dime

Cos everybody else has got a hand to hold at night

Everybody else has got someone to hold them tight

Everybody else has a got a love to call their own

Everybody but me, everybody but me

If i had a girl you'd see

That i would treat her tenderly

I'd take her out to shows

I'd buy her brand new clothes

She'd be happy with me

Cos everybody else has got a hand to hold at night

Everybody else has got someone to hold them tight

Everybody else has a got a love to call their own

Everybody but me, everybody but me

Cos everybody else has got a hand to hold at night

Everybody else has got someone to hold them tight

Everybody else has a got a love to call their own

Everybody but me, everybody but me

I hope someone can put me out of my misery, i've been trying to find out for ages

Never heard this song, don't recognise the lyrics at all. Can I ask how you know all the lyrics, but you don't no either the singer or the song, because usually it is the other way round. :)

I have dvd of TOTP performances that the BBC wiped back in the 70's and these clips have survived from German TV (as far as i know) who bought a lot of the shows back in the day, anyway this track is on the disc, i know the lyrics from just watching the clip, the singer does remind me of a very young Billy Joel but i'm 99% sure that it isnt him.
