Oh please, please, please I hope they mean the video for the release of The Garden in Germany. Please don't let them be considering this as the third single from the album for the UK. If a good song like Up All Night is going to flop (I'm calling a top 10 miss a flop from now on) just wait to see this track hit the ocean floor! It even makes Greatest Day sound ... well 'great'. By the way ... it'll flop in Germany too! This is a bad song for a single. Period! It tries to throw too much into the works and fails. It screams too much of 'look ... its a joint effort ... we're all singing' and it ends up being just distinctly ... meh!

I've got to be honest ... I really only like six songs on the album now. Seven if I include the hidden track. I've gone back to preferring Beautiful World.

I don't think "up all night" is going to flop. Give it a chance. Its no17 midweek and the physical is out next week, so its sure to end up in the top10 but it probably wont be one of their bigger hits.

up all night will have good sales and i still think it will go top 10 i think the main problem with up all night apart from the poor video is the promotion is very messy and the promotion they did like ant and dec was to early this week would have been far better,

the garden for me is the 3rd best son gon the circus and my top 3 are very close on the album and again if promoted properly in the UK as a 3rd single it will do reasonably well as we musnt forget the album has been a massive success so the singles wont be huge

I like Tha Garden, but not as a single. I got the same impression as Norma about what this choosing screams... .

Well, at least , when UAN won't see the Top 10 (booooo  ) at least the album sales are going up again. And i still enjoy the Circus much more as Beautiful World ( to be honest, if i didn't buy the tour edition, i would have considered BW rather poor with only 3 songs i love and two additionaly that i like).

Personal, i would imensely love to see "Hold up a light" as a single.... but i know that they won't risk Mark as leader again. My second option is "Here", but it is not very popular between the fans, and they seems to do everything in the last time to please thier fans (which is what i hate at the moment at TT :arrr: ).

Im the opposite i think the garden is a great choice for 3rd single i love it and i also think up all night will go top 10 next week, alsos if take that completly went with their fans reach out would have been the 3rd single and not id wait for life which should have never been a single

Iris - You're back! I'm going to try and get the single tomorrow after work. If I don't get it tomorrow I'll definitely get it Friday and in the post to you then. Whatever ... It'll be on the way to you by Friday at the latest.

I really like Hold Up A Light now. I think you're wrong about the 'risking Mark again' they'll go with what is the best song. For me it would be Said It All (most single-worthy - it 'sounds' like a single) but I know we all have our favourites. Up All Night was definitely 'single' worthy and if there are others like that in the future (whoever sings) then it'll be the right choice for a single. Having been very negative about this ... I think although it may not hit the top 10 next Sunday (or if it does it won't be very far inside), from wherever it is ... it'll go up the following week after they've appeared on Comic Relief. And I think, it'll have a good chart run (lengthwise) similar to Shine. Not quite as long as RTW but it'll definitely have a longer chart-life than Greatest Day.

Whatever ... the album went up ... and that is largely due to Up All Night.

Do you think that they will go for the best song? I don't think so after thier choosing of GD ....

To choose a single one must think on many aspects. For example one is if the song will get further than to the circle of fans (which is needed to keep a heathy music carrer), other to choose a song which represent the musical believes of the band. Or the one the most acts are going for: the song that will appeal to the masses to give them a chart top 10.

I do think that being TT is also a curse: they have to be high in charts  . That puts a lot of pressure, especially on the lead singer. He must be very sure on his power and believe in himself very much - and the only one in TT having that is Gary. That is why he always has the first single. Mark is at the same time the most innovative and the weak link - the one to love or hate. He is a hit or miss with the wide audience, i am afraid  . He is too special in his style to be liked from everybody - that why he is a risk for getting a top chart position.

I soo hate that they have to go for the charts. I mean - does somebody care if Oasis last single doesn't go in top 10? They are still adored!!! I wish for TT that the time comes when they can do the music they like and that they will be appreciated for the creative process instead for the chart position, awards, looks and entertainment. You cannot be creative in music and always on top of the game! It takes also a bit of going wrong . Even Lennon or McCartney have some horrible songs in their solo time....

Edit_ Norma, thank you for the single! I cannot wait to have it, i also like 84.

But it didn't matter what they chose for the first single ... it still would have got to number 1 - even the awful 'What Is Love' (my new favourite worst song on the album) would have done it. If I were in charge of the single releases (and was judging by - most 'single' worthy) I would have chosen Up All Night first, then Said It All and then for a third single Hold Up A Light.

Glad you had a nice holiday!

again they dont have to be high in the charts when id wait for life there wasnt much said, take that are now more of an album act all eyes seems to focus on the album sales and to date the circus hasnt disappointed, and up all night has helped the album go back into the top 10 again, greatest day was the type of song that had to be first single or never a single personnaly i think it should have never been a single although it has done fairly well,i would have had up all night as the first single but again i think no mater what the first single was the album would have still sold the same amount as it has done

What is love is soo boring and predictable  . Such a pity , as i love Howard's voice (but also Beautiful world was a not-so-good song IMO). At least he got Here - which i adore!

Your choice of singles would also be mine  . They must give us a job as assistent, i bet we will be better as the one Polydor give them

The only consolation I can garner from The Garden being a single is ... when it flops ... AND IT WILL! No-one can blame Gary for it like they blamed him for I'd Wait For Life! And at least IWFL was a good song (certainly heaps better than The Garden).

i dwait for lie is boring it just goes no where for me

I feel like that about The Garden though! We're never going to agree on this album are we?

Norma

no i dont think we will apart from up all night we have completly diiferent tastes regarding the songs on this album, but i think that is good as it shows the album has differnt appeal to different people

Whatever they release I'll end up buying because I always like to get their B tracks - some of those have been gems that I've liked more than the singles!

Whether they release The Garden or anything else there will always be some people that don't like it and others that do (I do btw, but not sure if I like it as a single). I really loved IWFL and I thought it was a pity that it didn't do better, but others clearly didn't like it and that's fair enough.

Either way I never trust The Sun as a reliable source but if they were to release The Garden I think it might be a bit of an odd choice as singles go... but I love it partly because it's a joint effort.

ya i like it that it is a joined effort which they hav enever done as asingle and it would be nice for a change and the line "this is the line weve been given" is so addictive

No way - it won't even make top 30 in the UK. It may do a little better in Germany as its only the second single there ... but I'd say top 20 at most even there.
