How old were you in 1965-7?

born i 57, so 8 - 10.

my mum had the radio (light programme & caroline) on all day and we watched totp. however, most of my interest in the 60's music was fully discovered in the early 70's when ( as i think this seriese will show) i didnt like contemporary pop music. not into glam, not into philly, not into prog rock, so i went retro to discover the music that i loved in my childhood. i remember first hand most of the top tracks from 65-7 but some were 'learned' second hand.

my general disinterest in contemporary music continued until punk revived the styles that i liked most.

All the music I love during the period 65-67 is all 'second hand' as wasn't born until 69!

Guess that's why I love things like The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, Small Faces, Hendrix and all the hippy stuff.

Do like a lot of garage punk released during this time. Wasn't big over here but there were quite a few hits in the States. Things like Let It All Hang Out by The Hombres, The Standells, The Count Five's Psychotic Reaction, Jefferson Airplane's Somebody to Love and White Rabbit.

no doubt i have omitted several tracks that i know purely because they didnt chart and if they didnt appear in the listings i used to compile this list, and i forgot about them, they wouldnt be considered. 'white rabbit' in particular is an example of that... maybe one day ill update these charts when ive discovered/remembered tracks that need inclusion.
