Posted March 6, 200916 yr Hey, My name's John (omg bet you never would have guessed) and I'm a big Girls Aloud fan from Australia. I only actually discovered GA mid last year, and for the last month or so I've been on a mission to bring their music to Australia. I've recruited a fair few other Australian GA fans and we have had some success, including a play on nation-wide countdown the Hot 30 and the possibility of a few pins from popular radio station Nova. We've made a Youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/girlsaloudaustralia) and a website (www.girlsaloudaustralia), and I personally have been contacting as many radio stations, music blogs etc. about our campaign. We've als tried contacting Universal Music Australia, who have released a few of GA's songs here in the past, but we've only received automated replies. So basically right now we've reached abit of a dead end, at least until we hear back from radio stations etc. I was hoping a few of you might have some tips on how else we could go about getting a release of The Promise and/or Out Of Control. Anything would be great help, as we've done all we can think of. Any ways of promoting their music on a wide scale? Media? Contacts? We'd love them If you have any Aussie friends or relatives, please email them they links to our videos and let them know about GA. Thanks! John :)
March 6, 200916 yr From what i have observed they aren't very popular over here or at least in my area
March 6, 200916 yr OK, im moving this to the Girls Aloud forum then. It would be nice though, if they tried Australia again, they're even more popular now than they were in 05/06 when they last relesead over there so it makes a lot of sense to try again.
March 6, 200916 yr Author I don't think Chemistry was the right album to release here. Tangled Up would have been ideal here, Sexy! No No No... and Call The Shots could be massive here I reckon.
March 7, 200916 yr Especially with the last two albums GA being huge in Oz = major possibility. They easily are better than The Veronicas, who seem to be Oz's very own GA. Soo good luck with your worthy promo john would be great to see GA finally making global waves and not just dominating the UK and Ireland ;o
March 7, 200916 yr Author I agree, I don't get what's wrong with the record company, UMA is so stupid. TU would have gone absolutely through the roof here, but I didn't know about them during that era :( I actually found CTS on this CD called Future Pop 2.0, and it was sponsored by Nova, so there could be something there... March 8, 200916 yr Especially with the last two albums GA being huge in Oz = major possibility. They easily are better than The Veronicas, who seem to be Oz's very own GA. Soo good luck with your worthy promo john would be great to see GA finally making global waves and not just dominating the UK and Ireland ;o The Veronicas are highly different to GA. And GA wouldn't do well here. The music taste is fundamentally different here. A lot of the big US artists do well here, but also a lot more rockier bands do well here. Oh and if the Babes could never make it properly, GA don't have a hope in hell. I'd concentrate on getting them known on the continent first, imo that's a far more realistic goal. It's best not to run before you can walk.
March 18, 200916 yr Author New GA Australia video is up :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1w_vg0oGCE
March 23, 200916 yr GA should combine the last 2 albums, release call the shots and the promise, im sure they'd do well with those!
July 5, 200916 yr Author New video is up :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TpV6mnzh38 Hoping you Aussies will participate! Spread the word :)
July 5, 200916 yr Me too, it would be great for them to have an Aussie hit! Is the newer stuff not available though? I think it would be great to go after an album track like Miss You Bow Wow, which TBH I've only just properly got into, or failing that Some Kind Of Miracle...
July 6, 200916 yr Author The newest we have is a remix of CTS which is just on some compilation. After that we have TSOGA without ITWAN or Money. UMA have seriously ripped us off :P
July 6, 200916 yr That sucks :( Oh well, I wish you the best of luck! I have Aussie mates, maybe I can get them on board :D
July 6, 200916 yr Woho Girls Aloud are being recognised outside the UK about time! :cheer: Shame it is the fans who have to try and get them recognised it should be the record company.
July 10, 200916 yr They should do what the Sugababes did for the French, release the greatest hits album include tracks from Tangled Up & Out Of Control. If that does well, chances are that they could have future success. Electro pop artists go down a storm in Australia
July 25, 200915 yr Author We've obviously made some impact even if we haven't prompted any full-scale releases yet. Since the start of our campaign the following have been added to iTunes: TSOGA WWTNS? ISBY (Single) LM (Single) Then this morning... The Promise was added! :D And also a 'Hit Pack' featuring SKO, Biology, SOTU, LGC and the demo version of LM. Exciting stuff!
July 25, 200915 yr Wow! This is great, I hope some tracks can impact the iTunes top 100, could you keep us updated on iTunes positions please? :teresa:
