Less than two years after the release of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, 20th Century Fox is reportedly looking to reboot their Fantastic Four franchise.

It was reported last fall that Fox chairman Tom Rothman was considering a reboot of Daredevil, and now IESB claims the studio is "looking to completely retool, recast and recrew the franchise."

The site points out that, obviously, this would mean no Ioan Gruffudd as Mr. Fantasic, no Jessica Alba as the Invisible Woman, no Chris Evans as Human Torch, no Michael Chiklis as The Thing, no Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom, and no director Tim Story.

IESB says Fox wants the new FF franchise "to be 'less bubble gum' this time round following the Iron Man template, which was a complete success in reviews and box office take but a bit darker when it came to its superhero."

Really? Is this necessary?

I think it would be good as the Fantastic Four series was terriblee, even though i've only seen the first film.

Marvel has so much potential with some of its films, but they just need to take their time with them. But at the same time they can't expect every film they produce to do as good at the box office as Iron Man...

TBH.

no was the original films really nessarcary, they were $h!te, but i doubt there can be better.

FANTASTIC FOUR DOES NOT TRANSLATE WELL TO BIG SCREENS, THEY NEED TO LEARN THIS.

but i think they should bring Alba back because she was FIT as Sue Storm(/Richards).

I hope they dont protray Galactus as a cloud again, that was just embassasing.

They should absolutely do a reboot for Daredevil..... He's really one of Marvel's most interesting heroes, if you read the Frank Millar and Ann Nocenti Daredevil stories you see the potential for this charater being lived up to, the film was just fukkin' AWFUL, badly written, badly cast (who the hell thought Ben Assfleck would be good in the role....? ) and frankly pretty shoddily directed as well..... We deserve a GOOD Daredevil film.....

As for Fantastic Four, I'm kind of with Chris on this one, FF just wont really work as a film.... Doesn't really matter what you try and do to it.... If they couldn't make a decent Hulk movie, what chance of a decent FF one.....?

Why doesn't somebody try to do a Dr Strange film.....? Or Green Lantern....? Or Hawkman/Hawkworld....? Or a decent John Constantine/Hellblazer film with a BRITISH actor playing the part of John Constantine.....

...Or a bloody Sandman film...... That would be Neil Gaiman's Sandman by the way......

there is going to be a Dr Strange film, they are just taking ages.

as for Daredevil, i think there is huge potenial for a good film, especially if they make it really dark, and maybe more than just a 15, i think people think comic book movies have to appeal to a younger audience but i'd perfer them not to, but in this post-watchmen movie days i think its possible we may have more adult-targeted comic book movies in the future.

Green Lantern Movie has been on radar for a long time as well.

Dr. Strange I love to see

Spiderman 4 is to begin filming next year, for a 2011 release

Green Latern is well on its way now i believe, scheduled for a late 2010 release.

Spiderman 4 will proberly be epic fail tbh.

and Iron Man 2 has started, and Thor is almost cast, they are both out 2010, then 2011 we have The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers (mashing them all together.

Antman is still in pre-production aswell, but i think its going to be crossedover with The Avengers film aswell, directed by Edgar Wright :0

well, your gonna have to grit your teeth cos they are shooting 4 and 5 back-to-back

Firstly I wouldn't mind another Fantastic Four if it were the same cast. I love superhero films, one of my guilty pleasures, but a re-casting is just a stupid idea imo.

Yeah, I mean I call it overkill, but if they make them; no doubt I'll watch them.

Hope we get some new villains too.

I believe Sam Raimi is thinking about bringing in The Lizard (aka Dr Connors) in 4

I think he was in the first one and i THINK, the second one too... Hes just never had a major role in them and always been in the background really...

Ah yes he was in the second one because he told Peter he was worried about his grades slipping.

as soon as we first saw Dr Conner i thought we would get The Lizard as a villan, thought we would have it in 3 acth, i'd say it's pretty certain. bet he would look crap though

The Rhino would be cool too imo, i definatly want to see Mysterio aswell, and maybe Scorpian, Shocker or Electro.

Or if they were too take a darker route (which i cant see happening as this would suck at a 12 rating, of which it would be, f***ING CARNAGE. although they would destroy the character.

I believe Sam Raimi is thinking about bringing in The Lizard (aka Dr Connors) in 4

Good, about time... The Lizard was one of the original Spidey villains. And, as other people have pointed out, Rhino, Electro and Mysterio would be good as well.... And, come on Sam, let's have Felicia Hardy/The Black Cat as well to spice up Spidey's life....

I'd personally like to see them beef Spidey up a bit and take him into 15 cert territory.... It's an established fact that the average comic book reading demographic is FAR older than 12 years old.....

I blame all the cartoon series for that. They really did water down the comic books to make it "acceptable" for kids to see it.

Since we are talking about Comic Book Adaptations and for the sake of not starting a new topic:

Paving the way for the production and release of its multi-character superhero film, The Avengers, Marvel Entertainment, Inc. announced today an adjusted release pipeline for its self-produced feature film properties that reflects the first time individual Super Hero characters and story arcs will be inter-woven and culminate in a multi-character motion picture.

Separately, Marvel Studios confirmed today that Sony Pictures Entertainment will release Spider-Man 4 on May 6, 2011. Additionally, Marvel Studios has revised the release dates for Thor and The First Avenger: Captain America as part of its release strategy for an uninterrupted road to The Avengers, now debuting May 4, 2012.

A Marvel character-based film will now launch the summer box office season for three years in a row, from 2010 through 2012.

"This new schedule strongly sequences Marvel's movie debut dates, big screen character introductions and momentum. It maximizes the visibility of our single character-focused films, leading to the highly anticipated release of the multi-character The Avengers film in 2012," said David Maisel, Chairman, Marvel Studios.

Sony Pictures' and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 4 is slated for May 6, 2011. To date, all three motion pictures in the phenomenally successful Spider-Man franchise have generated nearly $2.5 billion worldwide theatrically.

Below is Marvel Studios' 2010-2012 updated release schedule for its slate of self-produced and financed feature films:

Marvel Studios Feature Film Pipeline

Iron Man 2

May 7, 2010 May 7, 2010

Thor

The First Avenger: Captain America

May 6, 2011 July 22, 2011

The Avengers

The release date for Iron Man 2 remains unchanged. Iron Man 2 is the sequel to the blockbuster film, Iron Man, which has grossed nearly $600 million worldwide.

Yeah, this is true to be fair... I remember a kids' cartoon series from the 80s, Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, where you had him teaming up with Iceman and Firestar (god only knows what happened to her, I dont even remember her from any of the comic book serials, Chris any ideas mate...?? ).

I'm thinking more about The Black Cat and who could play her... Eliza Dushku would be pretty great in the role, I reckon.....
