Zane Lowe interviewed Pete® Doherty on Radio Ones Zane Lowe show (Mondy 16th) and the BBC have kindly let us have the highlights.

 

Pete Looking back on Libertines:

 

Zane: What are your thoughts on the Libertines now?

 

Pete: I think for a long time it was annoying, you know?

 

Zane: Especially when you're trying to push forward.

 

Pete: Especially when I wasn't in my own band! But now I love them songs just as much as anyone else. And I would love to play them again. Simple as that really. I don't think that negates anything else I done. Some of the best stuff I done was with Babyshambles. I'd love to play `Death on A Stairs' or `Don't Look back In the Sun' live and I'd love to play with Carl.

 

On Possible Libertines Reunion and who would be involved:

 

Zane: But lets not forget it, it cant be a full reunion without the rhythm section.

 

Pete: Er well Libertines had a few line ups over the years

 

Zane: Come on man John and Gary have to be part of it!

 

Pete: We'll see, I'm up for it and I know John`s up for it... Gary will do as his told!

 

Zane: ha ha

 

Pete on Carl Barats reluctance to reform Libertines:

 

Pete: Its just Carl, he's a funny fella to be honest

 

Zane: Do you think he's just been hurt though?

 

Pete: It's just a bit dubious isn't it? He doesn't want to go down the same path and pick up the pieces again. I don't know, He still thinks I'm surrounded by this dark energy so until I can prove to him that I'm worth the risk... There's obviously suggestions put forward and offers made so its not about the money for him otherwise we would have reformed already. He just wants to make sure its right.

 

Pete discusses his strained relationship with Carl Barat and on their dramatic meet up in Paris:

 

Zane: You can' argue with that. As a fan of the band I would want all four members to be on the same page and trusting each ther not just playing together.

 

Pete: I went to see Dirty Pretty Things play at their last gig in Paris and we were supposed to meet up afterwards and it was all looking quite good and then he came round to the flat where I was staying and for some reason in his drunken state he thought it was a good idea to bring Anthony Rossomando

 

Zane: I think a bit of communication still needs to be had!

 

Pete: It' another little hurdle but then I thought he did that on purpose to wind me up and then I thought it was just him being weird. And then he texted me saying `well you know I wouldn't wanna hurt you, I was just not thinking I was a bit drunk'. And maybe I was a bit rude.
