March 18, 200916 yr I love my hubby :yahoo: he as just booked 2 tickets and said because we can't go away this year we could go for the weekend :cheer:  That's fantastic! I'm elated for you. I hope there'll be more announced. :) When I read "bestival" in the headline I thought: great, Bestival (on the Isle of Man) is still on, despite the mud slide last year, so I was feeling happy for a certain Gill, but obviously, it's a different location. Must be hard at times for fans like Gill who live in a fairly remote place, or on an island. I realise how lucky I am, often, as a Londoner. :) Can't get to Dorset myself, in fact I've decided I'll be a penny-pinching old miser this year and won't go to any gigs at all. Finally have to do something about my debt. Anyway, how about Glastonbury two years in a row? :yahoo: And maybe he'll do V or T again.

March 19, 200916 yr on the Isle of Man No it is the Isle of Wight! The fields are still recovering after six months! I am delighted he has been added to the line up so early. Last year he seemed to appear in the line up quite late on. Edited March 19, 200916 yr by Pearl
March 19, 200916 yr Thanks to Bumbling. POP star Will Young is the latest big-name act to be added to the bill for this year’s Camp Bestival at Lulworth Castle. The Pop Idol winner, 30, will play the main stage on Sunday afternoon at the three-day event in July. He and French rockers Phoenix join a bill already boasting Dorset star PJ Harvey and disco kings Chic, featuring Nile Rodgers. Meanwhile, fans can now pay for their tickets in three instalments because of the credit crunch. Camp Bestival organiser and Radio One DJ Rob da Bank said: “Will Young is a massive pop star and right up our street as a family-orientated festival. “He’ll really appeal to the mums and dads and he’s got a really good young fanbase as well. “Will’s exactly the sort of artist people want to see at Camp Bestival. He’s great fun and he’s got a great voice
March 19, 200916 yr Author Thanks TT - I thought it seemed quite family oriented. Not the bandstand then
March 19, 200916 yr Thanks TT Thanks TT - I thought it seemed quite family oriented. Not the bandstand then  That's the reason hubby wanted to go I think the stories of women pooing in the fields [where everyone could see them] at T in the park put hubby off the festivals
March 21, 200916 yr Author Couldn't sleep - thanks to Julie (will 4 me)on Devoted for this: Virtual Festivals' weekly news round up United Kingdom | by Daniel Fahey | 20 March 2009 Welcome to Virtual Festivals' weekly news round up. Here are the big stories you may have missed over the last seven days... Line-ups While the major festivals started padding out their line-ups with non-headline acts, it was down to the smaller events to wheel out the big names this week, starting with Guilfest. Motörhead and former Beach Boy Brain Wilson will be taking the 'Good Vibrations' (the organisers’ pun, not ours) to Stoke Park this July, bosses confirmed, with many more names expected in the coming weeks. Secret Garden Party proved a little more frivolous with naming names on Tuesday, as festival chiefs released a slew of acts headed up by Pulp's poet Jarvis Cocker. Reggae legends Toots And The Maytals, Emiliana Torrini, Slow Club and Peggy Sue were also among the 60-odd bands announced, as further plans for this year’s festival unravelled, including the news that the site will be split into two areas: Eden and Babylon. Elsewhere, Will Young will continue his successful festival tour, taking in Camp Bestival this summer, after winning over fans at its sister event Bestival in 2008. The singer will be joined by Mumford And Sons, Phoenix, Crazy P and more at the family-friendly event, as festival bosses announced that the fancy dress theme for July will be 'Animal Magic'. "Read into that what you will," said curator Rob Da Bank, "unicorns, bears, elephants, Scooby Doos, Johnny Morris look-alikes and Paul Daniels impersonators will all be very welcome." Speaking of the dark arts, Wizard Festival in Scotland announced that The Charlatans will headline this year's event, with punk rockers Buzzcocks also set for the Aberdeenshire event. Sticking with Scotland, but crossing over to T In The Park, and organisers have confirmed that trip hop magician Mr Scruff will notch up another festival date on his record bag this year, joining Boys Noize and Laurent Garnier in the festival's Slam Tent. Organisers also announced that Passion Pit and M83 are set to make names for themselves on the Futures Stage come July. Two names comedy fans should already be accustomed to are Mathew Horne and James Corden, stars of hit TV series 'Gavin And Stacy'. The pair are preparing to unleash their musical side at the Isle of Wight Festival with a group they're set to put together just five days before the event – expect bum notes and fat jokes aplenty. Organisers also revealed that a recently reformed Ultravox are also heading to the Garden Isle alongside Maximo Park, The View, White Lies and The Zombies. The first acts announced for WOMAD emerged this week, with Solomon Burke, Ethiopiques and Fat Freddy's Drop leading the charge. India's Darbar Morchang Party and Gypsies of Rajasthan are also set to appear alongside Hindi Zahra and Caravan Palace from France. Organisers' globe-trotting conquest for the best bands around the world, also led to artists as far a field as China, Hungary, Australia and Burkina Faso being announced. Fans of exclusives should be looking no further than Manchester International Festival, with bosses revealing an imaginative programme of commissioned work, music, art, theatre and experience. Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed will appear for the first time together in the UK, Kraftwerk will work will composer Steve Reich and Elbow are set to hook up with The Hallé at the festival. Click here to see more of the scheduled events and where to get tickets. Summer Sundae Weekender bolstered its bill early on Monday with Saint Etienne, Noisettes, Imelda May and Frank Turner among the notable additions, while the teenage and alcohol-free arm of Camden Crawl confirmed that Eugene McGuinness, Howling Bells and Attack! Attack! will play the inaugural event next month. Finally this week, Radio 1 announced that their One Big Weekend will take place at Lydiard Park in Swindon from 9-10 May, with Snow Patrol and N-Dubz the first artists confirmed. Cancellations The credit crunch claimed another festival victim this week, dragging Heavenly Planet down from the stars before it even debuted. "The worsening economic crisis and circumstances beyond our control have been major factors in the final decision," conceded one of the organisers Melvin Benn. Tickets Camp Bestival bosses announced a ticket scheme, which they say is a UK first. Those wishing to attend can now stagger payments by paying a third of the ticket cost now, followed by two payments paid over two consecutive months. March 21, 200916 yr Thanks munchkin, it's a great idea to have a staggered payment scheme for the Camp Bestival tickets as well, especially if the whole family is going. :D
March 21, 200916 yr Thanks to Bumbling. As if that weren’t enough to make a dazzlingly perfect start to your hols, bona-fide Pop Idol Will Young will be joining the festival in the salubrious surrounds of Lulworth Castle for a knock-out Sunday night set. After wowing the crowds all last summer, you can be sure that Will is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser and a proper gent to-boot. Commenting on his appearance Will Young said: “I am really excited to be doing festivals again this summer. It’s gonna be a hot summer, and I can’t think of anything else I’d like to be doing more - I enjoyed them all so much last year” Sounds as if there's a few more.
March 21, 200916 yr Thanks to Bumbling. Sounds as if there's a few more. Hopefully TT and I've asked Will over on the O/S, if he'd please do one in my neck of the woods. :P
March 21, 200916 yr Hopefully TT and I've asked Will over on the O/S, if he'd please do one in my neck of the woods. :P Let's hope he grants your request.
April 16, 200916 yr Thanks to Bumbling. One of Bestival's biggest fans, nicest guy in pop Will Young has been enjoying our big sister festival as a punter ever since the very start, and after his awesome appearance at Bestival last year when he kept the rain sodden masses singing and dancing through the mire we thought it would be only right to invite him along to sprinkle his magic on Camp Bestival 2009. Since exploding onto the pop landscape as the winner of the first Pop Idol TV show, Will Young has gone on to become one of the country's most popular performers. Unlike the majority of reality show winners who sink without trace, Will has managed to forge a career built solely on his talents as a singer and a songwriter of some accomplishment, while his live performances encapsulate the wit, charm and incredible sense of humour of this very talented young man. And so it is with great pleasure that Camp Bestival present to you the Brit Award winning, multi platinum album selling pop treasure that is Will Young for what is sure to be a highlight of the weekend. www.will-youngonline.com[
April 17, 200916 yr This is what I posted on D. I am still unsure as to whether Will went to Bestival before last year. There was no mention at all in any of the local papers, no-one mentioned him that I heard of. So in all honesty I don't think he went. When I spoke to him at The Vortex he said he had never been to the Island although his mum used to come here as a girl for swimming events.
