Anastacia: "Sicily, that's exciting"

CATANIA - "You can tear me apart, you can rip me to pieces / try breaking me down but I'll never be beated / you can say that you won but I'll never believe it / cuz I can't be defeated."
Life can be hard but everything turns around and changes in an unexpected way. The american singer Anastacia, come back to her international audience with her new album Heavy Rotation which contains the strong, brave and realistic verses of Defeated, knows something about this.

The last album is definitely the one of the definitive change of the singer, who seems to be a more mature artist today. Two years ago she married her bodyguard, Wayne Newton, she has a new label - she changed from Sony Bmg to Universal - and she has a new softer look. "I'm not afraid of showing the sexy side of me anymore, and that's a thing I was embarassed of before. I think that if someone wants to take care about himself, well, why not"

This summer she'll be back in front of her italian audience with four exclusives and fascinating concerts: she will be the guest star at the Arena in Verona at Elton John's concert on the 7th of July; the following day whe'll be in Lucca and on the 12th of July she'll be at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. The only concert in the south of Italy will take place on the 10th of July at the Teatro Antico in Taorimina, a live organized by D'Alessandro&Galli and Giuseppe Rapisarda Management.

"I've never been in Sicily and I'm really excited. I saw lots of Taormina's photos, its breathtaking views and its beauties. I also know that this is an exclusive place where lots of international stars performed" confessed the star.

She's american, born and grown in Chicago. The "change" word has a particular meaning for her. "Obviously my first thought and reference is Obama, he's great. He says that the change can scare us and make us nervous, but if we're all together and we're united we can always do something right, both in politics and in life. In my third album in 2004, when I came back to music after fighting cancer, there's a song called Seasons Change and that's still actual"

In 2003, as a matter of facts, while she were doing some preliminary exams to reduce her breast, breast cancer was found. She had surgery to remove the cancer, reconstraction and radiotherapy. Although, only after her world Tour she took some time to relax. "I've never seen my illness as a negative thing, I didn't allow it to change my vitality". However, this is an experience that certainly changed her and her way to see the world and life.

"I'm organizing the european Tour with the same enthusiasm as the first concerts. I can feel the positive vibe of the new project that will be enormous and international only apparently, because I'll try to make every single concert really intimate and unique"

In the new concerts, some old and new songs will be on. ""It will be a way to make people listen to the last songs, but a way to have the possibility to satisfy the audience too. You know, sometimes when I'm on stage I feel like my fans ask me to be part of the show, to sing loud with me because they're there to do that. I can't say anything else about the Tour, otherwise my team will kill me!"

Together with her artistic activity, Anastacia's going on raising money for her foundation called with her name (The Anastacia Fund): "The project's going on and part of my concert's incomes and spontaneous donations form my fans finance it. It's born to assure a precocious diagnosis to all the young girls to avoid having breast cancer".

Recently she was the guest of X-Factor, RadiDue, and she received a "Women's World Awards" award in Vienna: "That really was a surprise for me. I'm used to receiving music awards, because of my albums..but I've never received an award because of being the woman I am, it was great".
