WHITE LIES also fail to hit the 50. Other hits outside the 50 include RONAN KEATING and "Time After Time", THE SCRIPT "Talk You Down". LADY GAGA is all over the place, and also chews the cud with "Beautiful Dirty Rich", and "Love Game" in the top 70. We give the Flop Of The Pops award to DCA PROJECT with "Sandcastles", GASLIGHT ANTHEMS and "GREAT EXPECTATIONS", not forgetting MAGIC ARM and "Bootsy Bootsy". Last week, we had 22 in the 30, and 36 in the 40 with the Combined Albums. In the Singles, we had 38 in the 40, and 44 in the 50. Back in 1987, Radio Luxembourg came up with this: (Which was introduced by PETER ANTHONY on Tues 24th March 1987 at 9pm) 01 01 RESPECTABLE - MEL AND KIM 02 NE LET IT BE - FERRY AID 03 14 WITH OR WITHOUT YOU - U2 04 23 LET`S WAIT A WHILE - JANET JACKSON 05 07 RESPECT YOURSELF - BRUCE WILLIS 06 06 SIGN OF THE TIMES - PRINCE 07 03 EVERTHING I OWN - BOY GEORGE 08 09 YOU`VE GOTTA FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT (TO PARTY) - BEASTIE BOYS 09 10 IT DOESN`T HAVE TO BE - ERASURE 10 11 LA ISLA BONITA - MADONNA 11 22 BIG TIME - PETER GABRIEL 12 08 THE GREAT PRETENDER - FREDDIE MERCURY 13 13 TONIGHT TONIGHT TONIGHT - GENESIS 14 02 I GET THE SWEETEST FEELING - JACKIE WILSON 15 NE LEAN ON ME - CLUB NOUVEAU 16 12 LOVING YOU IS SWEETER THAN EVER - NICK KAMEN 17 NE IF YOU LET ME STAY - TERENCE TRENT DARBY 18 26 I`D RATHER GO BLIND - RUBY TURNER 19 04 THEME FROM MOONLIGHTING - AL JAREAU 20 16 LIVE IT UP - MENTAL AS ANYTHING 21 30 SEXY GIRL - LILLO THOMAS 22 NE EVER FALLIN IN LOVE (WITH SOMEONE YOU SHOULDN`T OF) - FINE YOUNG CANNIBALS 23 29 WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET - TINA TURNER 24 05 WEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF BEAUTY - ALISON MOYET 25 NE ORDINARY DAY - CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT 26 17 STAND BY ME - BEN E. KING 27 20 CRUSH ON YOU - JETS 28 19 SEVERINA - MISSION 29 NE KEEP YOUR EYE ON ME - HERB ALPERT 30 NE STILL OF THE NIGHT - WHITESNAKE 26 in the 30 for Radio Luxembourg in 1987. They only really missed with the Pogues/Dubliners "Irish Rover", and David Bowie "Day In Day Out". They both entered on the following week at 13 & 19 respectively. Lots of re-makes/re-issues in the chart...with FERRY AID (the Zeebruge Disater Fund single), BOY GEORGE covering BREAD from 1971, CLUB NOUVEAU absolutely ruining the BILL WITHERS classic that was pretty good with MUD too, JACKIE WILSON re-issued (again), FREDDIE MERCURY covering a 1956 PLATTERS hit, BRUCE WILLIS covering THE STAPLES SINGERS from 1972, NICK KAMEN singing the FOUR TOPS (1966), BEN E. KING re-issued from 1961 (off a tv ad), RUBY TURNER covering CHICKEN SHACK (from 1969). Far too many old songs around in that 86/87 period. I always thought this was not really good for the UK charts, of the time. It was good to see Radio Luxembourg`s PowerPlay new release of the week was LABI SIFREE and "Something Inside So Strong"...Good to hear something new from him.
March 23, 200916 yr Thanks Dave! Surprised to see Lady Gaga ahead of the Pet Shop Boys on albums, but I wouldn't hold it against her if they were still number 2. I really hope KIG don't enter any higher than 26, but i think they will sell well on downloads, so I think we are looking at at least top 15 :(
March 23, 200916 yr GaGa better not block PSB for #1 on the albums chart. She has multiple chances in scoring a #1 album while PSB only have this week. :(
March 23, 200916 yr Interesting! The Fame may top the artist album chart and pokerface holding on despite Flo Rida getting physical release. How cool for her to do the double after missing out last time. When was the last time someone did that without it being the lead/album launching single? (Leona Run/Spirit is the last female i'm thinking, though Spirit was a deluxe re-release)
March 23, 200916 yr Seems some members are predicting the Noisettes to have a #1 next week, if it does it be one of those tracks that I never saw coming, I don't think it will have the impact to go tro #1 with Lady GaGa, Beyonce, and Flo Rida in the way
March 23, 200916 yr Seems some members are predicting the Noisettes to have a #1 next week, if it does it be one of those tracks that I never saw coming, I don't think it will have the impact to go tro #1 with Lady GaGa, Beyonce, and Flo Rida in the way "Jai Ho" is still increasing too, they don't have much of a chance. I doubt they'll even get into the top five... I could be wrong though.
March 23, 200916 yr I'm expecting just outside top 5 this week, 6 or 7, but it will bob up and down for a while after. I've already heard people singing it at work though - which is the foolproof way of telling if something is going to be huge.
March 23, 200916 yr I just know I'm going to screw up my predictions this week. So I'm gonna change my prediction for Steve A and then leave my predictions as they are. I've got another prediction: I come last in both games. hat's with the random climbing of The Fame? I'm glad to see it will finally be #1 though.
March 23, 200916 yr What's with the random climbing of The Fame? I'm glad to see it will finally be #1 though. I guess it's something to do with Poker Face being number one!
March 23, 200916 yr I guess it's something to do with Poker Face being number one! It's an outside possibility...
