Tonight it's a documentary called "The Pervert's Guide To Cinema" - and no, it AINT a programme about hard-core pornography. The prog is being done by a psychoanalyst called Slavoj Zizek who, along with many other Critical and Film Theorists argues that Cinema plays on ideas of Fruedian Psychoanalysis. Personally, I think that the theory is totally flawed, a film is much more a product of a historical, cultural, social and political context than some airy-fairy notions of Fruedianism; but the idea that some psychoanalytic film theorists put forward that the dominant US Hollywood system basically reinforces the ideology of a Patriarchal power structure where women are belittled and objectified has considerable merit.....

Anyway, it'll be a bloody good programme, required viewing for all Film Buffs.....
