Richard Harris played DD in the first 2 movies, but unfortunately, Harris passed away..:( So one way or the other, they had to replace him.. But IMO they made a terrible choice! I think Gambon (who's also from the UK) doesn't portray DD as it should be, and he's nothing like DD in the books..
