Quantum of Solace and Prince of Persia actress Gemma Arterton has joined the cast of the Clash of the Titans remake.

 

Empire Online reports that Arterton will play the demi-goddess Io in the Louis Leterrier-directed project. Boasting that she has "the coolest part," Arterton points out that her character Io was not in the 1981 film.

 

"The script is very different," Arterton explained. "Obviously the story is the story, but it's much more about Perseus' mission, and how he deals with being the son of Zeus, and things like that, so it feels a little more about him, and about the issues around that."

 

Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation, Avatar) will star as Perseus. Clash of the Titans will begin shooting later this year for a summer 2010 release.

 

I have yet to see the original version as well as Quantum of Solace to determine how good this Gemma girl really is...

Love the original, and its better, Ray Harryhausen did all the effects for the film.

The original is a wonderful fantasy epic, which actually more or less sticks to the original Greek mythology quite faithfully.....

 

Someone like Peter Jackson, the guy who did Chronicles of Narnia, or Chris Nolan, I'm sure could do a fantastic job of re-telling this story.. The director of the rather average "Incredible Hulk" and bog standard "Transporter 2", I dont really hold out much hope for.....

I dont really rate Gemma Arterton that highly tbh.... I thought her role in "Quantum of Solace" was rather pointless....

But, yeah, I agree not really her fault - seriously bad scripting is what was responsible for undermining that film and her role in it...

Saw it yesterday, I really enjoyed it. It wasn't amazing or anything but was realy good, although the 3D part of it was a bit pointless imo

Which bits of it were 3D? I couldn't really tell what was and what wasn't. Anyway, saw it in Leicester Sqaure yesterday, and it was fun, but I expected it to be much longer. Sam Worthington does look good in a leather skirt though :naughty:

Seen it, the film is not that bad actually I still prefer the original over it, basically mostly re-hashed with CGI effects instead of using plastic models with the original. They did leave the ending a bit open for a follow-up, let's hope they don't just leave it as a stand alone movie, most follow ups are crap hint; Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

I think it looks really good, not sure if the story line will match the epic battles and stuff but that doesn't always matter!
