Sacha Baron Cohen's latest film, based on his character Bruno, has been given a rating in the US banning anyone aged 17 or under watching it, reports say.

Industry paper Variety said the ratings board - The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) - objected to several sexual scenes.

It was awarded a NC-17, but film bosses had hoped for an R-rating, which allows under 17s to watch it with an adult.

The film is being re-edited before it is resubmitted to the MPAA.

The deleted sequences are likely to be saved for the DVD release at a later date.

The film is based around Bruno, a gay fashion reporter for Austrian TV.

The Bruno movie follows in the success of Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

It was originally rated NC-17, but was later changed to an R-rating.

The Bruno film, which has been largely filmed in the US, is set to be released on 10 July.

I remember reading this in the newspaper this morning and the headline said "Bruno Too Gay For The US?" but surely this has nothing to do with the way the US certify their films? Ive read somethings online about this film which dont make it that surprising as to why its been given the rating but at the same time i think the MPAA is overreacting just a tad on this...

Don't be silly, the only reason it got an NC-17 rating is because it's gay. The MPAA is run by a bunch of of evangelical and conservative christian men/women who somehow have opinions far superior to our own. Because sexual scenes are much more horrible and influential than scenes of grotesque violence...

Watch 'This Movie is Not Yet Rated'. Good film.

LOL @ this. I found Borat lawlz. Though it'll be interesting to see how this goes, considering he's hugeeee now.

Great.... <_<

This fukkin' means that we'll get stuck with the "edited" version on OUR cinema screens in UK because the Yanks cant handle a bit of faked Gay Sex..... <_<

No point in going to see this film at the cinema now, might as well wait for the "uncensored" version on DVD..... -_-

I can't wait for this movie though. Ali G was brilliant, Borat was a godsend- I just hope Bruno is good aswell.
