This is how the cycle basically went:

Shelly Peiken originally wrote and produced the song for 'Blackout', but apparently didn't make it because Britney didn't want Blackout to have any slow sad songs on it, so no it was then given to Emilia De Poret and she changed around the lyrics and some production, but she didn't use it so she gave it back to Shelly who then sold it to Joanna Pacitti for it to be on her debut album. Well her solo career tanked, but still they used her version on the Bratz movie soundtrack. That still basically did nothing and Britney/Jive loved it so much they wanted it to be on Circus, because they thought it was very appropriate for her situation.
