Shakespears Sister consisted of Siobhan (Bananarama) Fahey and Marcella Detroit. "Stay" was #1 for 8 weeks back in 1992 in the UK and reached #4 in the US. So does anybody remember them?? If not I'm 100% sure you'll remember the song and its creepy video. Their album at this time "Hormonally Yours" reached #3 in the UK album chart and went double platinum. They split in 1993 however as they could no longer stand the sight of each other.

Yes, I remember them....and vaguely recall the video.....all that black eye makeup.....
Yeah 8 weeks at No.1 in 1992 was quite an achievement.

Wasn't too enamoured by their material, but I liked Marcella Detroit's solo single I Believe :D

not really, in the early 90's it was common for bland pop to get to #1 for weeks.... bryan adams? wet wet wet?

like many acts, they are remembered for their worst hit (often the publics favourite), 'goodbye cruel world' was imho their best.

One of my favourite singles of all time, I love the video its so dark and scary. You're History is also a great track, shame they didn't get on well, they made a good album though, need to hunt it out sometime.
"Stay" was alright, but an earlier track of theirs, "You're History" (from their first album), "I Dont Care" and "Goodbye Cruel World" were better tunes as far as I'm concerned.....
all that black eye makeup.....

Summat wrong with black eye make-up then....?

Shakespeare's Sister, as far as I'm concerned, had a far classier image than the likes of The Saturdays, Pussycat Dolls or Girls Aloud.....
