Eurythmics (Annie Lennox, Tourists, Dave Stewart) http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/pic200/drP000/P050/P05001N4M8T.jpg One of the most successful duos to emerge in the early '80s. They continued to have hits until the end of the decade. The 1990s saw vocalist Annie Lennox become a solo star in her own right, as well as establishing instrumentalist Dave Stewart as a successful, savvy producer and songwriter. April 9, 200916 yr The Loneliest Man In The World by The Tourists is a wonderful song. It should have been a massive hit. The follow up, a cover of I Only Want To Be With You (originally recorded by the late, great Dusty Springfield) was a hit but TLMITW still seems set for undeserved obscurity :(
April 9, 200916 yr I liked all their early stuff and even some of her solo stuff, but I hated There must be an angel :puke2:
April 10, 200916 yr The only track I know of the Tourists is their cover of I Only Want To Be With You. I liked everything that the Eurythmics did, although not so keen on 17 Again and I like most of Annie's solo material. I don't think much of her latest odd offering of the cover of Ash's Shining Light - I like the original though.
April 10, 200916 yr odd... imho the tourist best track was their first, as suedehead points out... similar with the eurythmics 'never gonna cry again' was BRILLIANT, but failed to chart and like 'lonliest man in the world' never got the deserved acclaim. after that i never really got the eurythmics... all the brit awards etc, i dont like them either together or solo..
April 10, 200916 yr Annie's incredibly powerful "dominatrix" image in that Eurythmics vid was really a defining moment in my childhood tbh.... Marilyn Manson may have come along and sort of "gothed-up" the whole thing with the only decent cover he ever put out, but my money would still be on Annie whupping his little skinny goth ass with that cane, mind you, he'd probably like that..... :P  I was a fan of Eurythmics early stuff, but really have no time for stuff like "There Must Be an Angel"..... Some of Annie solo stuff is pretty cool too..... The Tourists were bloody good too....
April 13, 200916 yr The first few Eurythmics albums (In the Garden, Sweet Dreams, Touch, 1984) are all really good records. After that they lost it a bit (especially most of the Be Yourself Tonight album) but they still came up with the odd good song like I Need a Man and Beethoven. Apart from the Dusty cover wasn't So Good to Be Back Home Again, or whatever it was called, a hit?
April 13, 200916 yr Apart from the Dusty cover wasn't So Good to Be Back Home Again, or whatever it was called, a hit? yep.... i liked that but not as much as 'lonliest man in the world'. dont rate dusty covers at all.
