it looks like this era is over, Dido is already recording for a 4th album, from her website:

 

I think I'm going to do a proper tour after the next record. I've written and recorded so much recently and am just loving being in the studio and doing that at the moment. So I imagine another record will be released before the next tour. I'm really looking forward to touring when we do though. We had such an amazing time last time. Meeting so many people, playing in incredible outdoor venues in the summer. I felt so lucky every day. By the time I've finished all this recording I'll be very excited to be out!

 

best thing to do?

"Currently recording my next album" is her default answear when she doesn´t have anything else to say. She has been sayng this centuries before the failed Safe Trip Home was released. That doesn´t mean, in any way, that the album will come quick. Specially now, that investing any money in her is complete crazyness.

 

There are many reasons why this album haven´t even got a tour:

a) complete lack of will from Dido herself in anything concerning her own career

B) complete lack of interest by the public in Dido. 5 years without a hit, it would atract as many people as a Vengaboys´reunion.

c) the colossal loss of money of her label in the STH project

 

Now, about the STH era being over... has it even begun, to start with? If you call an album launched by a Top 60 single without a tour or any presentation an "era", then it must be. But whatever we call this Safe Trip Home episody (I call it tragedy), it´s obviously over. Whose gonna invest any cent in an album which, almost half a year after its release, has sold just 30% of the copies initially pressed in the UK (and less then 50% globally)? Even if, by a miracle, sales of the album were tripled, there would still be no need to ship any more copies, and therefore, no extra money to be made for the label, so it´s pretty safe that it´s over. What´s not safe is that Dido has any future in Sony. Hell, it has been years of investment on her and this album made workers to be fired, she fuelled the market´s crisis! Years of investment in an album that haven´t made 1 cent in return!

TBH i didn't like Safe Trip Home. OF COURSE the best thing! Looking forward to the album! PLEAAAAASEEEEE come back with a HITTEST HIT THAT HAS EVER BEEN 'HIT'TEN :(
